Paul J White: It's not easy when there's a pandemic on and your best friend lives 400 miles away. But I had a fantastic couple of days with Viv this week - and praying I don't have to wait another 2 years to see her again!
Paul J White: July's calendar is a 1923 poster for Dunoon by LNER. The centre for Clyde pleasure sailings, it's also behind the Scots phrase "streaming drunk" as early booze cruises were taken to avoid the temperance laws which shut Glasgow pubs on Sundays!
Paul J White: A football free zone, thank Christ. Honestly have no fucks to give regards England and its racist arsehole fans. #vermut
Paul J White: Forecast 25C today, and it certainly looks promising from my back garden!
Paul J White: June already, and finally some warmer weather. If there was a steam train to Southport, I'd be very tempted! 2nd vax brought forward to next week, so despite the talk of variants, I'm confident we're on track to get back to normal before too long. Phew!
Paul J White: It's a good couple of weeks later than usual, due to the cold, wet spring weather, but once again the clematis is looking spectacular!
Paul J White: Gorgeous afternoon at @wylam_brewery yesterday, pints in the sun until nearly dusk, by which time it had turned a bit chilly. But what a beautiful evening!
Paul J White: It's not a great photo, but it was a great feeling to be back INSIDE the pub, as the frankly awful May weather continued outdoors. Thanks to all at @mean_eyed_cat_ncl for superb service! X
Paul J White: The bin men have just been. I think mine's a fan of Jackson Pollock. FFS.
Paul J White: May on the vintage railways calendar takes us to Windsor. Here in 2021, May brings us some pleasant sunshine but not much warmth. But 40 somethings getting the vax, and brewery tap rooms opening bring some confidence in the overall situation :-)
Paul J White: I had an interesting morning sticking my head in this machine. Nothing too serious, thankfully, just a 3D x-ray of my sinuses - they've been giving me bother for a while now, so hopefully this will give them a clue as to what's wrong. And get it fixed!
Paul J White: Nice to see the pubs and shops of Ouseburn doing good business in the sunshine. Busy, but well managed and sensible at @thetynebar 😊
Paul J White: Even the bus shelters are paying their respects. R.I.P. Philip the Greek, faithful companion to her maj for many a year. And he died at 99, just before he got a telegram from the missus.
Paul J White: April on the historic railways calendar brings us sunny St Ives. I've never been there, but as the pandemic continues to rage across Europe, that might be as far south as I can get this summer!
Paul J White: Good drying weather. First wash of the year out on the line is always a sign that spring is just round the corner 😊
Paul J White: March on the vintage railways calendar takes us to bonnie Scotland. It also brings longer days, the promise of spring, and a ray of hope as the vaccine rollout continues apace 😊
Paul J White: A bit of last minute sledging fun before the big thaw sets in. Molly is still creased with laughter after I crashed into the climbing frame 😂
Paul J White: A warm welcome and a roaring fire on a frosty day! Oh how I wish... @thecumberlandarms
Paul J White: A bit more snow overnight, followed by a stunning, beautiful day. Perfect for sledging in the park antics!
Paul J White: A trip to Felixstowe would be lovely, I'm so sick of walking the same paths within a 2 mile radius of home! After a January that seemed to last three years, thank god we're into February, and the promise of spring round the corner!
Paul J White: View from Byker across the city to the hills of the Tyne valley today. Cold and frosty but beautifully clear.
Paul J White: Brick, concrete and iron - over 150 years of bridge building technology over the Ouseburn valley. Another crisp, sunny, slightly slippery day, and lovely to be outdoors.
Paul J White: Today's blue! After 3 days of rain, sleet and snow we can finally see sky. Bloody windy though, as we're lashed by the tail end of storm Christoph.
Paul J White: Pretty much sums up how I'm feeling today. #grim
Paul J White: Something so simple has no right to taste so amazing! But with @northern.rye bread and @blocknbottle ham, this jambon-beurre is like a taste of Paris!
Paul J White: A year ago today. 20C in mid January. Should have been heading back to Sevilla next week 😟
Paul J White: It was hardly a winter wonderland, turning slushy with treacherous icy patches, I managed not much more than two miles. But some VERY fresh air was had.
Paul J White: The Heaton Park Shoe Tree is bearing its distinctive red fruit early this year 😂
Paul J White: New Year, new calendar, and this year's features classic railway posters from the National Railway Museum. Let's hope we can get out and get traveling before too long!
