Mom drinks coffee on our porch while the neighborhood becomes progressively weedier. The owner of the lot across Rock Street died and nobody was mowing it anymore. In the background, the Surf Club parking lot reverted to a swamp 5 years after bankruptcy.

It was a beautiful summer day and one of my friends and I had successfully sneaked into the Surf Club! It was located right across Merwin Avenue from our house on Rock Street. That's me on top of the water slide. Milford CT. Aug 1973

Los Angeles had their 1950s TV show "Highway Patrol", but in Woodmont, we had a REAL "Beach Patrol". They substituted for police cars when cruising the shoreline in the '60s and '70s looking for all sorts of violations. Milford CT.
