These cliffs look out over the highest waves in the world. Be careful trying to surf here. I observed many widows of seamen, still dressed in black after losing husbands to the rough seas.

Nazaré is. Irving but a maze of alleys. This was one of the widest of them. They are full of open doors leading to commercial kitchens, or living rooms, and you'd be an arm's length away from somebody holding intimate conversation as you passed.
