A Shaw Photo: This is my first Stonechat sighting, and photo too! This little songbird with its black cap, white collar, and pop of rusty-orange is found in open fields and moorlands, and often near the coast. That does explain why I saw it on the Orme at Llandudno.
A Shaw Photo: The last image from my trip to Dinorwig Quarry in North Wales, Snowdonia/Eryri. What a place!
A Shaw Photo: Here’s a ‘landscape’ I took recently. It was difficult balancing the other camera on my forehead and triggering it with my mouth, but I managed Taken with the Sony A7RV & 16-35mm 2.8 GM

A Shaw Photo: Another shot from Dinorwig Slate Quarry, overlooked by the epic range of Snowdonia. It was a superb visit and the light was sublime!
A Shaw Photo: A collection of more posed shots with epic lighting at Dinorwig Slate Quarry. It’s a fascinating place. It’s barren but rich with history, bleak but beautiful, decaying but rich with new life. It’s worth a visit!

A Shaw Photo: I had a fantastic trip to Dinorwig in North Wales. It’s the ruins of one of the world’s oldest and largest mines, or it was when it was opened in the late 1700’s! The sunset over Eryri/Snowdonia was epic…!

A Shaw Photo: A clattering of Jackdaws (yes that’s the collective noun!) on a farm roof at sunrise caught my eye. It’s no prize winning shot, but it turned out nice
A Shaw Photo: Low mist coupled with low cloud made this sunset over Llandudno really quite pretty! This was a telephoto shot taken from Abergele. Taken with the Sony RX10iv
A Shaw Photo: A female European Greenfinch made its way into my viewfinder for the first time recently; I mistook it for a young Goldfinch at first
A Shaw Photo: Another Robin shot, this time this little chap was a superb model! I had a brief panic shoot with the wrong settings as I was working on landscapes, and somehow it’s turned out nice!
A Shaw Photo: Just a lil blue tit, but I really liked how the yellow moss compliments the bird’s plumage. Taken with the Sony RX10iv
A Shaw Photo: This is a 600mm shot from Llandudno’s Great Orme over towards Snowdonia. I really like the light and shades captured.
A Shaw Photo: This is the first time I’ve seen a Tufted Duck and I was lucky enough to see them simply hanging around; I didn’t even need to try hard. It was a fleeting moment on a walk, but nice nonetheless!

A Shaw Photo: It’s the time of the Robin (unofficially I guess) and they are everywhere This one was going in and out of this bare hedge. The steep blue fall off is because I was practically shouldering the hedge. Taken with the Sony RX10iv

A Shaw Photo: A collection of shots from Llyn Padarn, a lake in Snowdonia, looking towards Dolbadarn Castle and the mountains of Snowdonia behind. The light was gorgeous!

A Shaw Photo: Not my usual style, but (hopefully) striking nonetheless. This is the infamous ‘lone tree’ at Llyn Padarn in Snowdonia. It’s actually on the edge of a car park pretty much, but the backdrop is lovely!
A Shaw Photo: The moon tonight as it rose: this was at about 8-10° high in the sky. Gorgeous! My 20MP 600mm cropped image isn’t doing it justice. Taken with the Sony RX10iv
A Shaw Photo: A triptych of shots from the beach yesterday morning. Now that the cold and stormy weather has subsided, the skies and ocean have both created a lovely combo of late!
