Elizabeth Hext House. Built in 1720, this house is considered to be one of oldest homes in Beaufort. An early example of Beaufort architecture set on a tabby foundation.

“Tabernacle Baptist Church was formed by black members of Beaufort Baptist Church after other members evacuated the area due to Federal occupation in 1861. The Beaufort church’s lecture room was used for services during the war.” From a historical marker
