swampgas2 ( read my profile ): Typical type roller dam. give or take a foot 1888 ft long by 8.5 ft high. and was designed to catch debris moving down stream as well as water level in the canal. This is also very treacherous
swampgas2 ( read my profile ): The water level has dropped and the current slowed some. the fishermen are out in droves all along the river. Even with improved conditions this is dangerous. One slip into a hole ( and there are many along this stretch ) and you are history.
swampgas2 ( read my profile ): Walleye run is in full swing. The fisherman are out shoulder to shoulder trying to catch the prize. Fish are highly valued and when deep fried they are really good.

swampgas2 ( read my profile ): Lights last Glimmer. Coming out of the preserve I noticed the light illuminating an old white sycamore. Was a georgeous day but I only saw some deer off in the distance. To far away for a picture.
swampgas2 ( read my profile ): Went over to Buttonwood to check out the fishing ( walleye run ). The river was to high and fast for any fishing.
swampgas2 ( read my profile ): Water was over the banks and the result is a flood filled hollow. Looking at the surface of the water,... the shadow could be ma-natures bar code for soggy.
swampgas2 ( read my profile ): Multi-use Trail. This cuts off the Canonball Trail at about mile 8 or 9 mark. It goes for a very long distance thru the preserve. I have never followed it all the way, but I think on a really good day with an early start I'm going to do it.

swampgas2 ( read my profile ): When deep in, one thing you have to remember. You are not alone ! They may not have been seen and it's unlikely you will run into them,but when you have big prey.. you have big predators It's the struggle for life..
swampgas2 ( read my profile ): inter-urban Grabbed this shot in the evening and caught the reflection on the surface of the river. This was built in the late 19th century and connected the cities of Cincinnati, Columbus, and Toledo. It was abandoned in the mid 20th century.
swampgas2 ( read my profile ): When I was A youngen these used to be cabins that could be used for camping year round. Now they are shelter houses for picnickers

swampgas2 ( read my profile ): High Bluffs. Water is very shallow here and photoed some people playing in the river Bluffs here are 60 ft but they can be higher in places. Notice the garbage dumpster smashed against the bridge. It was carried here during the spring floods

swampgas2 ( read my profile ): White Oak Camp Ground. this is new this year. They have several sites for group, family and individuals who wish to camp. There are modern rest rooms ( not rustic or dig your own )
