Sunday play: Started with a basic gouache & watercolor painting inspired by the Smoky Mountains. Drew into it with colored pencil, then chopped it with a paper cutter before remixing into a weave. (Shadows, because I haven’t taped it down quite yet.) . .

This one was inspired by the bright color of Crocosmia ‘Lucifer’ (I think!) in bloom next to a rock wall in Mystic, CT. For the flowers I used a cadmium-free red watercolor - plus a teeny bit of carmine gouache for opacity. . . . #watercolor #watercolora
