Steel Paladin: In-progress shot of a glasses holder for my Dad, whose birthday is today. This’ll be a 9-ish hour print in about $6 worth of @filaments.ca Wood PLA, if slic3r’s calculations are up to snuff. Started it at around 9:30pm yesterday, and so far it’s holding u
Steel Paladin: I’ve designed and printed a custom enclosure for my little thermometer/humidity gauge. Just need to find (or design?) a coin cell battery holder so I can stop using this huge AA battery pack and use the back cover I designed for it. #3dprinting #arduino #
Steel Paladin: Let’s use up some bad printing filament, shall we? Fifteen ducks should do the trick. Wonder how long this’ll take? :)
Steel Paladin: Just shipped out some 3D-printed board game organizing inserts to an old miniature wargaming friend of mine back in Ottawa. Thankfully, the designs were already available on BoardGameGeek, so I just had to download them and print. #3dprinting #prusai3mk2s
Steel Paladin: There we go - now I’ve got all my spools in a row. Printed and hung all of my 3D printer filament spools with the new spool holder design. While I was printing these, I had an idea for a version of this spool holder design that attaches to the shelf on th
Steel Paladin: Here’s to rising from the ashes of 2017 in this coming year. Here’s to working as hard as I can on things that I love, but also respecting my limits and not taking on so much that I break. Here’s to pushing forward, making a living, and building a life th
Steel Paladin: And this is how the cat sits, right at my feet, whenever I’m watching my 3D printer do its work. Her name is Mama, because she was found in the back yard with a litter of kittens. #makercatsofinstagram
Steel Paladin: Yay! New filament day! Silver, gold, and translucent blue. Black also received but not shown. Shipment from @filaments.ca . #3dprinting #pla #filament #maker #makersgonnamake #diy #disruptityourself
Steel Paladin: And there’s even a painting update! Just about finished the yellows on the body, finished and attached the head, added the caution stripes to the guns, and did the highlights on the jet pack.
Steel Paladin: Got back to painting this Inceptor. These guys are so over the top: they literally jump from space battleships in orbit to land on the battlefield. Thankfully, they’re armoured well enough to survive atmospheric entry, and somehow even their paint jobs su
Steel Paladin: So, finally picked up the new Blood Angels codex. Still not likely to play much given my isolated living situation and lack of transportation, but it’ll at least give me an idea of how I want to build my army as I keep building and painting. #warhammer40k
Steel Paladin: Got another Millennium Falcon on the printer right now, but a lot bigger than before and printing in halves. About 15.5 hours of print time down, 3.5 to go. #3dprinting #prusai3mk2s #slic3r #octoprint #maker #makersgonnamake #spaceship #starship #millenni
Steel Paladin: Printed off a couple storage trays for my DS, 3DS, and classic Game Boy games yesterday. I’ve got another DS tray on the go right now, and I have also downloaded models for trays to organize my classic NES, Genesis, SNES collections, too! Next, though, I
Steel Paladin: Messed around with the bath bomb mold design to use less filament to print, and to incorporate a filling port for pourable materials. I may want to do another revision that moves the port to the “top” of one of the halves, so it’s not pouring onto a seam,
Steel Paladin: After waiting overnight for them to print, here is the two part bath bomb mold! I had to snap off two of the tabs, because a couple of the holes were misaligned in the design. Will have to check that. Also, I had the filler percentage up way too high, I t
Steel Paladin: Well, I did my best nine for 2017, and it looks like I now know where my bread is buttered! I’ll try to keep putting up more miniature painting pics to satisfy that demand! Thanks all! #2017bestnine
Steel Paladin: Found the model for some “deal with it” shades, and thought it was a good idea to print them off. I am very satisfied with myself. DEAL WITH IT. #3dprinterselfie #3dprinting #prusai3mk2s #prusaresearch #prusa #maker #makersgonnamake #diy #disruptityourse
Steel Paladin: This is turning out to be a pretty good 3D printing area for being a little piece of the laundry room. :) #3dprinting #prusai3mk2s #prusa #printrbotsimple #printrbot #maker #makersgonnamake #diy #disruptityourself #workshop

Steel Paladin: More progress, after a wash of Reikland Fleshshade, another coat of Mephiston Red, and starting a coat of Evil Sunz Scarlet.
Steel Paladin: Made some adjustments and did a duck test: this one came out looking like it had been lobotomized. I almost want to sculpt a brain into the gap on this one. Made more adjustments afterward that I’ll test in the morning. #3dprinting #maker #printrbot #prin
Steel Paladin: Apparently, @NathanFillion is really committed to impersonating me. Appreciating giant anime robot booty, making Gundam puns. So committed to the role! #gundam
Steel Paladin: Well, that took about six or seven hours, and did not turn out terribly well. Oh well. Time to adjust and try again! Was supposed to be a T-62 tank for a friend of mine who plays Flames of War. So yeah, just so you all know why 3D printing won’t be puttin
Steel Paladin: Just started working on the Char Annabel-style Black Mamba again, and added some Zeon-like yellow accents to the mini, and did another subtle highlight to the grey/metal parts. #heavygear #heavygearblitz #dreampod9 #hobbystreak #hobbystreakday1 #mecha #me
Steel Paladin: Just got my set of Body Kun / Body Chan mannequins in the mail today. There was a really good deal on them about a month ago, so I went for it. Otherwise, I might not have. These should help me better visualize less straightforward poses when drawing or p
Steel Paladin: Courtesy of 3D printing and some silver acrylic paint (classic Boltgun Metal and Mithril Silver, no less), my computer now has a brand new name tag! Care to guess what video game her name comes from?
Steel Paladin: And now, a frickin’ shark. No lasers this time, though.
Steel Paladin: Now, all the highlights on the red and metal are done, as are all the green lenses. As such, these two battle-brothers now have their heads on straight! Next will be the final highlight on the black, the purity seals, and freehand chapter/company/squad ma
Steel Paladin: I think I’m going to finish these two next after I’m done with this Primaris Intercessor squad. Can anyone guess what kind of theme I’m going for here?
Steel Paladin: Tested some new filament retraction settings to try and get rid of that stuff between the two cones on that last print, but no success... yet. Going to try jacking up the retraction speed from 40 to 70mm/s and see if that helps, with a retraction distance
