It’s the “sew” in Build, Sew, Reap. I’ll admit I don’t post about this part of my creativity as much these days but it’s still there. With two sons training and competing in DanceSport, I’m learning the art of sewing performance wear. These tuxedo style p

It’s been a few years since I got to do a fancy cake so when my friend asked if I could make a Wonder Woman cake, I jumped at the chance. This all-vegan creation features chocolate cake, buttercream frosting, and fondant. The toppers are toys for my favor

Yesterday I nearly finished the insulation upstairs but noticed a window was leaking a little bit so today I took out some foam window sealant. I think the window should be fixed now but need to wait for more pounding rain to know for sure. Being stalled

Happy new year! The interior of the tree cabin is coming along slowly. I purchased a kitchen island and assembled it so we now have a little kitchenette. Also new to the space: an altered Trofast unit which is now a window seat. She’s coming along! #build

Each year I take our received holiday cards and craft them into a book. We love looking back at how our friends and family have grown through the years. This easy craft doesn’t take long but the payoff is huge. http://bit.ly/2ljohlh #buildsewreap #craft #

On Thursday, I got caught in a crazy wind storm while in the treehouse. She surfed on the swaying trees but not without some disconcerting pops and groans so I bailed on my work day. I tried to haul tail home but ended up helping to clear the highway of d

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I tore my rotator cuff and have been benched ever since. We did go out to the cabin last weekend as a family and Mr BSR helped put in the last window. She’s all closed up now which means we can heat the place. #builds

Sunday was my birthday so we headed out to play at the cabin. The boys swept upstairs then blew up the air mattresses. THIS moment is why I’ve been working so hard. Unfortunately, I injured my shoulder so progress has come to a screeching halt for now. #b

It’s a “half my roof is done” selfie. I went back out alone today and finished installing the other 9 panels by myself. I’m elated. #buildsewreap #firstroof #snaplock #dunnlumber #diy #roofing #metalroof #cabin #build

Six months ago, I was nervous to drill the hole for the bolt above the turnbuckle at the bottom left of this photo. The ladder felt so high. Today I stood on a makeshift scaffolding about 20 feet up and installed metal roofing with my husband. The growth

Each year I try to offer a gift option for around $5. This year I’m trying my hand at reusable cup sleeves. These make great gifts for teachers, coworkers, and, well anyone who enjoys hot beverages but doesn’t like burned hands. These should fit a standar

I had about 7 consecutive uninterrupted hours of work on the cabin today. I hooked up the propane heater and enjoyed the toasty warmth while painting the window trim boards white. It was about 48 degrees, breezy, and drizzly outside so the heater made thi

Yesterday was wet and cold but we headed out as a fam so the kids could play and hubs and I could get some work done. I prepped two more windows with flashing. #buildsewreap #build #diy #cabin #treehouse
