NickJonesMedia:
1st January. The year began with an Arabic bulletin. Slept most of the day then had an epic burger for breakfast and back to work via car/train/bus/tube.
NickJonesMedia:
2nd January. Home from work to a 2 hour nap then town for some shopping. Kids dinner/bath/bed then off for Xmas2. The best fun and biggest laughs I've had for ages. Also my first Christmas dinner of the season!
NickJonesMedia:
3rd January. Ed had me up at 0415, which I wasn't very impressed with. Took the Xmas decorations down and then watched Frozen with this little Bat while Jem and Ed slept. Hats made this comfortable box to watch the film in, I had to lay next to it apparen
NickJonesMedia:
4th January. First day Ed was at nursery until 3pm so it was just me and Bat most of the day while Jem slept. Went hunting for bubbles but only Asda had some for her. Came home and went for a walk down the road to see if the horses were in, they weren't.
NickJonesMedia:
5th January. Spend about 3 hours walking around the zoo with the kids while Jem slept off a nightshift. Ed managed to get the orangutang to kiss him through the glass a few times. He also got a private show at the birds of prey, but he wasn't that bothere
NickJonesMedia:
6th January. The morning before work went by too quickly. 2 kids and 2 adults to get fed, washed, dressed and out the door by 0840. Me to the train and them to nursery. Rest of the day was at the Big British Castle followed by a cycle home in some impress
NickJonesMedia:
7th January. Slept in Bat's cot all night, up with her 5 or 6 times. Soaked cycling to the station to find the train delayed by 10 minutes. Train home was also 15 minutes late with no explanation. Isn't commuting a hoot?
NickJonesMedia:
8th January. Another night in and out of Bat's room. Supposed to drop the car off at the garage in the morning but the battery was dead so de-ice two cars then jump start ours and deliver it to the garage all before going to work at 0820. Luckily it was q
NickJonesMedia:
9th January. Alarm before 6 to get to work on time. Saw a man checking his pager on the way home from work! Took the kids for a walk in the wind and rain before bed, with Ed in charge of the torch. He was quite excited spotting dog poo on the pavement.
NickJonesMedia:
10th January. Allowed to sleep until 8am on my day off, a much needed extra 2.5 hours sleep than normal. While Ed and Jem slept I took Hats for a walk to the shops then to blow bubbles in the garden. Tried to take Ed to the park while Hats slept but the c
NickJonesMedia:
11th January. Frozen on the telly by 0520 sums up the night really. Ed at nursery all day so Bat and I had plans, which she scuppered by going to sleep. Instead we ran around Sainos, made a card for Jem and played games before going to get Ed.
NickJonesMedia:
12th January. Ed woke me and Hats up at 0440 so Bat had an early nap while Ed and I did some gluing (he ate some) and writing practice. When Bat woke up we went to get a frame for Jem's house print and got Ed to sleep. Off to work for a late shift, back i
NickJonesMedia:
13th January. Home from work gone 1am. Ed decided to get up at 0430, which meant we were all up at 0430. Just a normal day at work doing WS news and a bit of Focus in the middle.
NickJonesMedia:
14th January. Another night sleeping with Hats in her cot. Ed got us up early again so we were ready nice and early to meet Di for breakfast at a garden centre. Tidied the front garden and swapped the pots by the door for ones with bulbs in. A few hours n
NickJonesMedia:
15th January. A beautiful bright morning after a nightshift. Up until 1pm to let Jem catch up on some sleep. Plumber round to quote for the bathroom. Sleep until 8 then back to work.
NickJonesMedia:
16th January. Back from another nightshift. Managed to sleep quite a bit but up in time to watch the kids have dinner and do their bath before leaving for another nightshift.
NickJonesMedia:
17th January. The end of 3 night shifts. Had to get a coach from London to Colchester. Slept most of the day then dinner and bed times with the kids.
NickJonesMedia:
18th January. Another night with Bat in her cot. Up before 5. Managed to get the whole house hoovered (with Ed's help) then on to sand and wax the top of the table and do a coat of paint on the base.
NickJonesMedia:
19th January. The kids slept until after 7am! Yes Ed was up at 4 for a bit and Hats was up for a hour in the night, but it was getting light when we woke up! Painted the table and 2 chairs and the kids playroom chairs. Played with Ed and Henry (his Hoover
NickJonesMedia:
20th January. Some fun with the kids then off to work. Delayed train home through thick freezing fog making everything seem like a Noir film set.
NickJonesMedia:
21st January. First freelance day of 2016. A nice little corporate sit-down turned in to a day of bag and booming a room of 80 senior managers at full stretch. Think I deserved the posh chocolates I 'borrowed' on the way out.
NickJonesMedia:
22nd January. Another night in the cot with Bat. She's didn't properly get up until after 6 so I count that as a good night's sleep. Ed decided to try my winter hat, but demanded he accessorise it with his camera, then take photos of me putting my shoes o
NickJonesMedia:
23rd January. Home for 6 and a bit hours sleep then up and back on the train for an 8am start at work. Home to put the kids to bed and have a Dim Sum dinner while Jem is out. Seems my work on the table didn't even last a week.
NickJonesMedia:
24th January. Went on an adventure to Aldeburgh. Ed talked non-stop the whole way there. We walked along the beach and played wave dodging. Had fish and chips for lunch then came home via a posh bakery in the countryside once the kids had fallen asleep.
NickJonesMedia:
25th January. Another night in Bat's cot. Ed at nursery so we went to town to find new shoes for Hattie. Ended up having coffee and cake in Carluccio's because why not! Chores the rest of the day and early to bed for the kids.
NickJonesMedia:
26th January. Took the kids to jump themselves silly at the Highwoods Gymnastics centre. Hats loved climbing up the highest things she could find and Ed loved that they had a large grey Henry Hoover! Late shift at work so home at 1am to a shouting Bat.
NickJonesMedia:
27th January. Late shift at work then driving the DLR to Beckton to stay and Nick and Andy (and the cat's) place so I can get to location early tomorrow.
NickJonesMedia:
28th January. Lugged this lot (and lots more) up 2 flights of stairs at 7am. Mixed a conference PA. Carried it all down again at 1pm. Went to BBC and worked the late business shift. Home before 1am thanks to a taxi from the station and not cycling.
NickJonesMedia:
29th January. Happily just a normal average day at work. Finished off the last of a mammoth subtitling job that's been lingering on since before Christmas. Home and straight in with Bat for the night for 'Gruffalo cuddles' as it now seems to be!
NickJonesMedia:
30th January. Just another day at work. Took a walk to Denmark Street and treated myself to a new capo as I can't find my original one. Also had a look at the £15000 vintage telecasters! Gotta love the ashtray bridge design.
