ettible: You don't want to know how much time we spent each day at the pond near the lobby of our resort in the Dominican Republic, talking to and about the animals as if they were . . . I don't want to say "our friends", because that's weird, but let's be honest
ettible: As promised, the pool at Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus in La Romana, Dominican Republic. It was about this full at all times of the day, even though the resort warned us that it was the busiest week of the year and the resort was sold out. Like, we literal
ettible: My boyfriend (now fiancé) and I went to the Dominican Republic from December 26th of last year to January 1st of this year to escape the NYC winter and try out our first all-inclusive resort! We chose the La Romana area of the island because I read that t
ettible: From one of my photoshoots this winter. Gorgeous lady, gorgeous setting.
ettible: Another attempt at capturing falling snowflakes this winter. Still terrible, but at least you can see a few! And I love that warm little light in the background.
ettible: Sunset last night over the Manhattan skyline.
ettible: One of my favorites from a winter family photoshoot. Not pictured: all of the drool this guy was letting fly. (The dog, not the boy.)
ettible: The Guinea hen from our tasting menu at Agern, the Nordic restaurant in Grand Central Terminal with the chef who helped found best-restaurant-in-the-world Noma in Denmark. My full review and pictures are on donuts4dinner.com now!
ettible: Sunset in the Chelsea neighborhood of NYC as I was leaving work the other night, One World Trade off in the distance.
ettible: From my last photoshoot with my stepsister and her beautiful family. (I'm mostly referring to the dogs here, but the rest of them are pretty okay, too.)
ettible: My fiancé and I learned during the last NYC snowstorm that snowflakes are really hard to take pictures of. Here's a shot from the roof of our apartment, where it's totally snowing super hard! But it just kind of looks foggy.
ettible: My dear friend since we were baaaaabies had me come do a photoshoot of her ever-expanding family, but this moment while the kids were distracted was my favorite shot of the day.
ettible: I present to you my greatest piece of art. I call this: "Minimalist Bacon". (From my @freshdirect meal kit.)
ettible: Back to NYC pictures! Here's a shot from my neighborhood last fall that just feels entirely Brooklyn to me.
ettible: And that's it for my Poland pictures! I think about the country all of the time and can't wait to visit again, hopefully this year. Warsaw had the beauty of Prague, and Krakow had the grit of Budapest, but it seemed like neither had been really touched by
ettible: A marker remembering All Saints' Church in All Saints' Square (Plac Wszystkich Świętych), which was built in the 1200s and demolished in 1838. Stones from it were used to built a wall around Rakowicki Cemetery, and its bronze fountain can be seen at St. P
ettible: We had lunch at Czarna Kaczka in Kraków's Old Town on my fiancé's parents' recommendation, so you know it's good traditional Polish food at a reasonable price. I got one of my favorite Polish dishes of all time, bigos, which is sometimes called the Polish
ettible: Because it was raining, we took the opportunity to go to the Rynek Underground museum our last day in Poland. Here, we're looking up at St. Mary's Basilica through the Louvre-Pyramid-like fountain that's above ground in the Kraków town square. Archeologis
ettible: It rained our last full day in Poland, so here we are in the Kraków town center under the roof of the Sukiennice, trying to keep dry and watching the horse-drawn carriages ferry people around in their ponchos. They always have an attractive younger woman
ettible: Like the Hungarian kurtos kalacs or the trdelnik in Prague, Poland has the Rurki z kremem ("pipes with cream"). It's like a cannoli except way longer, and you know a bigger dessert is a better dessert.
ettible: Trying to capture a picture of the bee that was flying around these flowers outside of Wawel Castle. And failing.
ettible: Flowers outside of Wawel Castle. (Truthfully, one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken, and the main image on ettible.com!)
ettible: Waterworks of the Royal Capital City of Kraków! I just thought this looked cooler than the manhole covers to the NYC sewer.
ettible: A lamp by the pool where Bishop Stanisław's limbs were thrown after the king dismembered him, NBD.
ettible: The alter inside the Church of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and Pauline Fathers Monastery, Skałka.
ettible: At the Church of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and Pauline Fathers Monastery, Skałka, the legend goes that Bishop Stanisław criticized King Bolesław in the year 1079, so the king had his guards tear the bishop limb from li
ettible: Please prepare yourself for the name of this church in Krakow built in 1472: Church of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and Pauline Fathers Monastery, Skałka. Apparently people just shorten it to Skałka–imagine that.
ettible: The famous obwarzanek krakowski (geographically protected like the name Champagne is) is twisted, boiled, and baked into an oval shape. Thinner and crustier than a bagel, it was served with different kinds of hummus and cheese in the backyard garden at 2
ettible: The patio and garden at 2 Okna Cafe in Kazimierz, Krakow. Perfect for a lazy Saturday brunch.
ettible: One morning, we had breakfast at 2 Okna Cafe ("2 okna" means "two windows", which I didn't realize as I was taking pictures of these two windows), because they have this special Polish bagel-like bread called an obwarzanek krakowski that I wanted to try.
