In former times, after ice-ages, Nore Brook would have been a raging torrent of melt-water. It eroded this coombe-like valley in the north-east face of Hascombe Hill, Surrey, England.

The trees of Hascombe Hill did their best to block any clear views. To the right of the large Fir tree is part of Cranleigh. On the left, masked by the Silver Birch tree we can still see the outline of Leith Hill, the highest hill in the Home Counties.

The wonderful woodland on the south-facing slope of Hascombe Hill, Surrey. Across The Weald are the ripples of Sandstone ridges, interspersed by pasture and forest. The furthest horizon is The South Downs, over 20 miles distant.
