*Darlene*: It was love from the start for these two crazy kids, and they've been together for so long now that they know what the other is thinking, just by the creaks in their bones.
*Darlene*: He sits feeling displaced by the jet streams overhead, the wind turbines by his side, and the GPS run combine tilling the soil in front of him, when the mule and the man guided plow was what he was born for.
*Darlene*: There's no need for your mind to worry, my compadre. I'll always have your back even after yours has broken.
*Darlene*: I was more than relieved that this nest was uninhabited as I'd just as soon not come face to face with the raptor that built it.
*Darlene*: Your determined position within the crowd has nothing to do with the distinction it gives you, but all with how you choose to appreciate the world from your individual vantage point.
*Darlene*: There's no longer anything needing to be fenced in, but the barn is still grateful to have his familiar friend by his side, even if it's just for looks.
*Darlene*: My time with you was well spent, and it was difficult to leave you standing there unescorted, so I couldn't turn my head to look back as I left because I knew then I'd have come back.
*Darlene*: Some days, I just feel like I'm only half the barn I used to be.
*Darlene*: As my companion sets below the horizon, I will miss him until I next feel his radiant face shine against me.
*Darlene*: Did you paint me red because it was your favorite color, because that's all they had, or because it made it easier to find me come winter.
*Darlene*: Baby, it's cold outside. Come and warm me with your company.
