This is one massive donut! "The Flying Pig" at Gourdough's - maple frosting topped with strips of fresh bacon.

Gotta go with BQ for my first meal in Austin! Brisket, pulled pork, jalapeño cheese grits and potato salad.
foodforfel:
PDC leftovers are so much better when there's actually green on the plate. The last of the roast duck over a bed super greens with a sugar shack inspired maple-balsamic vinaigrette.
foodforfel:
Foie gras French toast with cheese and blueberry jam. (Those pink things underneath the cheese? Huge lobes of foie. A meal at PDC isn't complete without excessive amounts of it!)
foodforfel:
All the maple syrup pulled from PDC's sugar shack is solely used at the restaurant. You're supposed to drench everything in it too - like these pork and shrimp dumplings (with soy sauce and maple syrup).

If you thought Montreal's Au Pied de Cochon was decadent, you need to experience their limited run Sugar Shack (only open during maple season). To give you an idea of how rich this meal was, this was our first/opening course - a gigantic meat pie topped w

The boyfriend tried cooking duck for the first time tonight...and totally aced it. Crispy duck breast, warm fingerling potato salad with mustard duck fat dressing and tomato salad with mozzarella.
foodforfel:
My first attempt at scallops at home came out pretty well! Seared scallops with spinach and roasted potatoes.
foodforfel:
I need to work on my cheese stretch. (Baked ziti in a homemade roasted pepper and Italian hot sausage sauce.)
foodforfel:
I had to get my uni fix! The uni pasta at EMC Seafood may be the best version I've had to date.
foodforfel:
Such a beautiful sight to start the morning: a Lucky Boy breakfast burrito.
foodforfel:
Cincinnati-style beef and chicken chili over spaghetti, loaded with cheese, onions and oyster crackers at the oldest restaurant in Burbank.
foodforfel:
When given the choice between a nicely exposed pic or 75 degree California sun, forget the pic! Warmth always wins. (Although, technically, I win either way - this open faced egg sandwich on olive bread was delicious!)
foodforfel:
Late-night ramen at Takashi. Only available after midnight, it's 100% beef broth with braised Kobe beef belly, crispy intestines and a soft boiled egg.
foodforfel:
Olive Garden's (yes, I'm talking about THAT Olive Garden) Zuppa Toscana soup is one of my guilty pleasures. I whipped up a batch at home based off a copycat recipe online...hot Italian sausage, bacon, potatoes and cream, how can you go wrong?
foodforfel:
Thanks to an afternoon donut delivery by @elleb5, I tasted @doughdoughnuts's pumpkin doughnut for the first time. If you like pumpkins and doughnuts (and even if you don't!), you NEED to try this thing. IT'S SO GOOD.
foodforfel:
Mile 18's awesome cause you can cheer for friends running the NY Marathon and then get this beauty - a pork belly, kimchi, fried egg grilled cheese sandwich. (Oh yeaaaah.)
foodforfel:
These might be the best tacos I've had in NYC - the handmade corn tortillas are FANTASTIC!
foodforfel:
Being able to make a tasty meal on the fly makes me giddier than it should. It's like, "Wow! I can really feed myself!" (Kale and hot sausage pasta in a roasted red pepper and eggplant sauce.)
foodforfel:
Beet cured salmon, horseradish cream cheese, radish and herbs. (It was tasty, but I wish it had more fish in it...just another slice would have been nice!)
foodforfel:
Frisée salad with bacon, toasted walnuts and a poached egg. (We're getting fancy at home now!)
foodforfel:
Breakfast in bed: Runny baked eggs over tomatoes and kale.
foodforfel:
What did I do pre-CSA? Not make small batches of star anise scented plum jam late at night, that's for sure.
foodforfel:
Bread pudding so good, it has it's own special plate. (Topped with pecan praline ice cream and a whiskey sauce!)
foodforfel:
Crawfish étouffée at one of the best (if not THE best) restaurant I tried in NOLA. So flavorful and surprisingly light!
foodforfel:
My first (and honestly, probably last) sno-ball. Nectar cream on the left, orchid vanilla on the right...Mmmm, artificial flavors and colors.
foodforfel:
Surf and turf po'boy - fried shrimp and roast beef with all the fixin's!
foodforfel:
Central Grocery's famous muffaletta - they're HUGE! (This is just a quarter of the whole sandwich.)
foodforfel:
A trip to NOLA is never complete without a beignet from Cafe Du Monde.
foodforfel:
The DKA ice cream sandwich! (I any take pictures of the cronut most of the time, but the DKAs are my favorite item at the bakery...and now they've been upgraded for summer!)
