St Andrews Church. Middleton, Pickering. North Yorkshire. Grade 1 Listed with a Saxon tower with over 30’ of stonework still in use at the base of the later mediaeval tower. Viking and Saxon crosses and funeral artefacts have been found here.

The Huddersfield Narrow Canal at Slaithwaite (pron: Slawit). Huddersfield to Ashton-under-Lyne 20miles away. It crosses The Pennines twice using 74 locks. Opened in 1811, closed in 1944 and is now almost restored.

Rosedale Priory. The original priory was created by nuns in 1126. The priory was pulled down to build warehouses for the new mining industry and a new church was built mid-19thC out of some of the stone too. One old tower still exists on site
