BaSSiStiSt: After 24 hours in transit and about 14 hours sleeping, we found ourselves newly arrived to an AirBnB in Sector Quinto, Elche, Spain
BaSSiStiSt: Headed off to the market, where none of the products are labeled in English
BaSSiStiSt: Little guy handled the trip so well
BaSSiStiSt: Hey Alex, you have a Pizzeria! We decided that Elche is Spanish for "pizza"
BaSSiStiSt: That's her name!
BaSSiStiSt: The symbolic center of Elche begins at Placa de Baix
BaSSiStiSt: No cars allowed and lots of cultural activities
BaSSiStiSt: Elche has about a million festivals, which are just excuses for music, dance, plays, etc. This was a comedy routine about riding on the train
BaSSiStiSt: Our first days were spent around Avenida Joan Papaya
BaSSiStiSt: The Palmeral is north of the city center and consists of sprawling gardens, palm trees and fountains/ponds
BaSSiStiSt: Stopping into the nice central mercado for a gin tonic
BaSSiStiSt: Are we really here?
BaSSiStiSt: Typical Elche scene: apartment buildings, one-way streets, small cafes
BaSSiStiSt: Duder is still like "what the fuck just happened?"
BaSSiStiSt: Beautiful sunset, and beautiful girl :-)
BaSSiStiSt: Taking the train will be a regular part of our lives now - thank goodness we live near it and it's easy to use!
BaSSiStiSt: The Basilica is the moral center of the city - It's home to the Misterio de Elche every August
BaSSiStiSt: For 3 Euros you can drag your ass up to the roof - it's a workout
BaSSiStiSt: Halfway up
BaSSiStiSt: The mountains north of the city
BaSSiStiSt: The Big Bell
BaSSiStiSt: What a view!
BaSSiStiSt: On the inside - this place is packed to the gills for the Misterio
BaSSiStiSt: La Dama De Elche - this is a replica of a famous work of art that's actually housed in Madrid
BaSSiStiSt: Fountains outside the MAHE Museum
BaSSiStiSt: Traipsing about the Palmeral - Hace Calor (it's hot)
BaSSiStiSt: The train runs through the city center and crosses over the Vinalopo River below a major street (Avenida Libertad)
BaSSiStiSt: Elche has a pretty tourism center
BaSSiStiSt: Time to have a seat and have our first:
BaSSiStiSt: Menu Del Dia! You pick one item from list one, one from list two, and you also get desert, coffee and a beverage (alcoholic or not)
