Berldo: Bird nerd alert: I took this photo of a rufous fantail the other day and was happy for two reasons. 1: I have never taken a decent photo of one 2: They aren't very common in the area. These guys move south along the great dividing range during late spring
Berldo: White faced heron. I find it funny that it is called a white faced heron as the white is quite minimal. Why not just call it a grey heron? Anyway, enough of my whinging. Quite a common species, this one was actually taken in Tasmania.
Berldo: Crested shrike tit taken at crusoe reservoir in kangaroo flat.
Berldo: The first half decent photo that I have taken of a Varied Sittella. These little guys don't stand still! So difficult to photograph.
Berldo: Not the sharpest photo I have ever taken. I uploaded it more as an example piece. Look at the fish this kite has caught... Yup, it's a fishing lure. Just a reminder to all fishos out there to take your mess with you. I do love my fishing and know it's not
Berldo: Eastern yellow robin drawn for @benjamin_carter83 Keep in mind that I also do commission pieces and you can contact me via Facebook, Instagram or visualelements.com.au
Berldo: Not a bird this time. Just a reminder that I also do commission illustrations. If you are interested just message me on Facebook, drop me a line on Instagram or contact via my website visualelements.com.au
Berldo: Yellow faced honeyeater. Another illustration for my "birds of the Macedon ranges" series.
Berldo: A drawing I did in 1995... I was still in high school. Probably drank five cups of coffee and stayed up to 3am drawing this!
Berldo: Old school drawing. Great crested grebe that I illustrated in 2005. I lacked confidence back then and just plucked images out of books and tried to draw them and make them look okay. Looking back I like the style of this one, it has an "archival naturalis
Berldo: Eastern spinebill feeding -detail.
Berldo: Female eastern spinebill contemplating the menu. Excuse the photo, this illustration is quite long and it is hard to get all the details in! I will post a cropped in detail shot as well.
Berldo: Brown tree creeper.... Not exactly creeping.
Berldo: A pair of white plumed honeyeaters.
Berldo: I hate posting work in progress shots... But at the same time I like watching how a piece develops over time. Some processes are tedious however it is the small details that can bring an image to life. Still a lot more work to do on this one but so far it
Berldo: "The butcher bird makes his call and asks you to agree, with its brutal nesting habits and pointless savagery" Nick Cave. Back to a black and white piece working with shadow values rather than colour.
Berldo: Pale ale at my local for Good Friday with Roy. #theroyalgeorge #theroyalgeorgehotel #kyneton #kynetonpub #local @royalgeorgekyneton #royalgeorgekyneton #royalgeorge
Berldo: Finally found the time to finish this one off. Been a hectic year wedding planning so my drawings have gone by the wayside. Getting married soon so hopefully after that I get some time to be a bird nerd and illustrator again!!
Berldo: Logo design I did for a mates band that got printed onto the drum kit. Check out the page "Rumblin' Wolf" on fb and spread the love.
Berldo: Our first fruit (which we ate before the birds got it) Always a bonus getting fruit off first year trees, look out next year! Oh and for those interested this is a plumcot - an apricot and plum hybrid.
Berldo: If you are in or around the Macedon ranges this weekend grab a copy of the Macedon Ranges Guardian, go straight to page 7 and read the lovely editorial they have written about me and my work. Don't forget to visit my website visualelements.com.au and drop
Berldo: New post on my website. Check it out and drop me a line visualelements.com.au
Berldo: Welcome to spring. Winter may be the bane of many a human existence but it is when a lot of fruit and vegetables put in the hard yards. What seems to be a hive of inactivity all of a sudden unleashes a flurry of beauty and productivity. Summer I can take
Berldo: Frank yapper loved the weekends warm weather. His owners outside gardening all day, it's tough work watching that kind of stuff, no wonder he's a bit knackered.
Berldo: Next in the series. Male superb fairy wren at the final stages of morph plumage prior becoming an adult.
Berldo: Next bird in the series completed. New holland honeyeater. Stay tuned, more to come.
Berldo: My first foray back into coloured illustration (for at least 10 years!) Part of my Macedon ranges birds collection. More news to come so keep an eye on visualelements.com.au
Berldo: Winter gardening is probably the most difficult. You put plants in knowing full well they will look like crap for at least two months. Every second day seems to be weeding in mud. Then BANG along comes spring and I will be high fiving the hell out of myse
Berldo: Frank_noir
Berldo: My first commission drawing of a dog. I had to put a filter on it because the original is pretty light (the dog is a whispy brown with white highlights) spread the word to all your friends, I am always looking for more commission work - any subject. Conta
