Perfect weather for a row to the pub (except we realised that was going to take too long, so we turned around and put the motor on).

A few weeks ago a single, quite bizarre looking red-crested pochard arrived out of nowhere and starting forcing himself on all the female diving ducks around the island. We named him Donald Trump Duck, for obvious reasons.

I call this one: "living at swan-level". They're nosey (beaky?) little creatures and make a terrifying flap of a commotion when they land or depart.

It was -3c over night, heading for a top of 5c today. The water hose and tap is frozen solid and our river island covered in white frost. But we're more than cosy and happy in our little boat. The air is crisp and the sun is bright and golden. Here's Chri

Well we're back in the water and there are no leaks yet. We'll keep the crane chains wrapped around for the eve, just in case. Maybe we'll drain a cheeky bottle of champagne in the mean time.

The boat jobs are never-ending. Will we ever get back on the water? Thankfully, work ethic runs strong in this one. Painting primer DURING tea break 💪

I've had my head in my work (and our boat) for weeks now, I forgot to watch for special sunsets. Fixed. Through the window of a looong train ride home.

It turns out we may also need to adopt a few hundred zebra mussels and some friendly hawk moths if things go to plan today.
