INTPix: At first, Amsterdam is all rules and no fun.
INTPix: No alcohol...something, something in Dutch. And now they want us to "drinkwater" too? What is this bullshit?
INTPix: But it's a lovely city full of canals (not the appropriate source of drinkwater, stick to faucets).
INTPix: And someone graffitied a perfect likeness of Thomas onto this wooden barricade. How sweet.
INTPix: Holland is a land of adorable tiny cars. This Pepto Bismol pink model is one of my favorites.
INTPix: Behold, a crane-bow.
INTPix: Our hotel bar has everything I value in life: red furniture and Belgian beer.
INTPix: After recovering from jet lag in Amsterdam, the cycling portion of the trip begins.
INTPix: Holland's countryside has everything one could hope for in a cycling holiday: painterly clouds, wary sheep...
INTPix: ...windmills.
INTPix: We're taking the scenic route (courtesy of this GPS device provided by the nice folks who arranged the tour), which occasionally means a canal ferry crossing.
INTPix: You also get to see goat houses.
INTPix: It rains a lot in this part of Europe, which means flowers all over the place. (And we're not even here during tulip season.)
INTPix: These billowy clouds do occasionally dispense water, but it's worth it for the scenery.
INTPix: Crossing a bridge in some picturesque town. There are too many to keep track of.
INTPix: If I'm recalling correctly, these flowers are atop a roadway near Leiden. Plants adorning concrete structures are a frequent sighting in Holland.
INTPix: And now we're in Leiden, where (like in Cabaret) everything is beautiful. The buildings are beautiful...
INTPix: The streets are beautiful...
INTPix: Even the seagulls are beautiful.
INTPix: I was actually getting a bit annoyed with Leiden while trying to edit this album, because every goddamn picture is album-worthy.
INTPix: Yet another picture that's too pretty to cut. Fuck you, Leiden.
INTPix: And look! My new iPhone can appropriately meter for nighttime photography! Well worth the upgrade from the 2011 model.
INTPix: A Dutch breakfast. (Which doubles as a Dutch lunch if packed properly.) And, yes, those are hardboiled eggs under the chicken cozies.
INTPix: In addition to it's handsome architecture and verdant canals, Leiden (university town that it is) is home to the Hortus Botanicus, Holland's oldest botanical garden.
INTPix: Otherwise known as Thomas's least favorite sight on our trip. He was a good sport about it though.
INTPix: Among the many flora that bored Thomas were these carnivorous pitcher plants.
INTPix: And Venus flytraps! What kind of weirdo isn't excited to see these plants?
INTPix: Here, have another picture of Venus flytraps. Because I know you at least will appreciate them.
INTPix: And another pitcher plant picture, for good measure.
INTPix: The great enigma of the Hortus Botanicus, confounding plant scholars for centuries.
