INTPix:
Let the tsunami of fun begin! Thomas requested this photo, so he's both model and art director. I just press the buttons on the camera.
INTPix:
Our first orca sighting! This is Olympia, btw, we're not visiting Seattle until the end of the trip.
INTPix:
The Washington State Capitol. Not to be confused with our nation's capital, Washington D.C. Even the spellings are different, capitol v. capital.
INTPix:
The road trip begins. Aka, the red coats are coming. (Wrong side of the country, I know, stop nitpicking.)
INTPix:
And our first banana slug sighting! We saw several during this relatively short hike, but I tried to restrain myself in terms of slug photography.
INTPix:
Dear fellow Quinault Rain Forest hikers, please stop touching the "you are here" portion of the maps. Your grimy paw prints are wearing away the details of the trail. Thanks!
INTPix:
Another big tree. This one was mostly hollow. I think it loses biggest tree points for that.
INTPix:
...Hobbit-y tree home door. One of us probably should have posed with it for scale, but trust me, it's small.
INTPix:
And now a change of scenery - camping at Kalaloch (pronounce Clay-lock) on the Pacific ocean.
INTPix:
Elk crossing. They're not very good at it, as evidenced by the large dead elk (and lightly mangled car) we saw later in the trip.
INTPix:
Near the waterfall on the Hoh River trail. Some people do overnight hikes here, but we just did a day hike because I'm lazy about schlepping a bunch of camping gear through a goddamn rainforest.
INTPix:
Thomas's rainforest photos all came out blurry, probably because the Hoh River ghosts didn't like him.
