19coco53: 2 layers of 160g twill weave glass and epoxy
19coco53: Plug planked in 3 mm balsa and sanded smooth
19coco53: Plug removed from building board. Sheer line needs sanding
19coco53: Glasses and sanded hull mounted on 3 mm ply to form the plug required to make the female mould.
19coco53: Fore deck hatch 1 mm recess .
19coco53: Deck mould started, propped up to match sheer line curvature.
19coco53: 1 mm ply, boiling water then wrapped round former to make raised fore deck mould.
19coco53: Deck plug with a cost of epoxy ready for sanding the high build filler primer and more sanding.
19coco53: Hull and deck plugs 3 coats of high build primer.Still some filling and fairing to do before more primer.
19coco53: Spray, fill , sand.... spray , fill , sand .... repeat. There’s no easy way to get a perfect finish.
19coco53: Slight amendment to cockpit with “big boy” filler.
19coco53: After a lot of filling and rubbing down, the plugs have been sprayed with 2k ( 2 pack ) car paint. The finish is straight out of the gun but will be polished when the paint is hard.
19coco53: Plugs after 1200,1500&2500 wet and dry paper then T cut. Nice and flat but still a few pin holes and marks. Filled with knifing putty, which will need more rubbing and polishing, when the paint is a little harder.
19coco53: Plugs polished which should leave the moulds with very little polishing to do.Next step is lots of coats of release wax and lots of polishing, then I’ll have to order some epoxy tooling gelcoat.
