19coco53: Two tone hull and deck mouldings
19coco53: Elipsis hull and deck mouldings
19coco53: Plug to make bow bumper mould.
19coco53: Vac bagging a deck . Much easier to use cut pieces of glass cloth rather than trying to use a single piece.
19coco53: Second hull, much better, just a couple of swirl marks where the wax wasn’t polished out properly.
19coco53: Deck temporarily taped on, weight 540g
19coco53: The first hull with trial fitted deck. Weight 519g still needs internals and this one will need a tiny bit of filling and spraying .
19coco53: Gothica number 3 out for sea trials at a very gloomy Furzton Lake , Milton Keynes
19coco53: Removable Perspex transom to enable hull to be removed from mould.
19coco53: Female moulds for hull and deck ready for final polishing and waxing. Hull mould will have a removable Perspex transom piece so a complete hull can be made in one go and removed from mould.
19coco53: Epoxy tooling gelcoat to be covered in 1x 160g twill glass then 2x plain weave glass of unknown weight probably around 400gsm, to make a very tough mould.
19coco53: 3 coats of epoxy tooling gelcoat applied.
19coco53: 8 coats of wax, ready for gelcoat
19coco53: Plugs polished which should leave the moulds with very little polishing to do.Next step is lots of coats of release wax and lots of polishing, then I’ll have to order some epoxy tooling gelcoat.
19coco53: Plugs after 1200,1500&2500 wet and dry paper then T cut. Nice and flat but still a few pin holes and marks. Filled with knifing putty, which will need more rubbing and polishing, when the paint is a little harder.
