The old -former gravel pit ,HAM RIVER -HALL&CO -ST .ALBANS sand & gravel ,Fishers Green ,Waltham Abbey ,Essex -70 acres .

The former HAM RIVER gravel pit ,Brightlingsea ,Essex -the jetty in the distance would have had a dock crane-navvi fitted ,an AEC six wheel dump truck ,would go to the jetty loaded from the plant ,and sea going barges loaded ,and sailed to London.

The photo I put up recently ,of my Old Ford V8 Pilot ,at the back of Fishers Green pit ,this is the same spot -late 1971-72 -Hales Containers -Foden S40 6x4 unit and two compactor trailers -Leyland 680 engine ,and 12 speed gearbox .

A comparison ,with the photo I put up ,Fishers Green pit ,Waltham Abbey ,Essex - I took this in 1971 -72 ,the bridge/tunnel where the conveyor belt went from the as raised ballast heap ,to the plant . Three St Albans -Foden S39 26 ton tippers .

HALL & CO Ltd ,Lad Leyland Octopus -(Heavy) tipper with large rear hubs and Duramin alloy body. Looking at the Vauxhall -Bedford sign on the wall ,I was thinking is this the old spares department ,recently demolished just off Junction 11 ,M1.

I was pleased with this internet purchase .A 1961 write up on GREENHAM ,gravel pit and plant .A Thames Trader tipper in shot ,the driver levelling the load ,sadly the old plant cut down and scrapped ,only a few years ago.

The Old Ford V8 Pilot ,by the old gatehouse ,Monkham’s Hall ,off the Crooked Mile ,Waltham Abbey ,Essex . My late Brother and me bought this old car at the old Hall -2001 ,a long way up the dirt track .
