sparkys_mom: Step 1-Start with 4 5" charm squares
sparkys_mom: Step 2 : cut all charms on the same angle.
sparkys_mom: Step 3 - All charms are cut into two pieces like this.
sparkys_mom: Step 4: Match the two pieces together - it will look like this.
sparkys_mom: Step 5: Now you have 4 squares - each one has one of each "pattern" or color.
sparkys_mom: Step 6: Lay them out for the final piecing.
sparkys_mom: Step 7: Now you have two halves.
sparkys_mom: Step 8: press the two halves open and put them down so you know they are in the right order.
sparkys_mom: Step 9: Match up the outer borders.
sparkys_mom: Step 10: Block is assembled. Notice how uneven the outer borders are.
sparkys_mom: Step 11: Use your square up ruler - mine is 8 1/2"
sparkys_mom: This isn't really a step - just emphasizing the trimming of the block.
sparkys_mom: LAST STEP!! All trimmed up. A rotating cutting mat is very helpful for this.
