weeweebear: Always rub my hands in glee when I see such bacon in the breakfast buffet! =D
weeweebear: Saw this notice on a shop's window... at first we thought it was a joke that a rubber ducky had been reported missing but as we read on, we realised it was not and was something used by NASA to measure global warming!
weeweebear: Posing with the bust of Jørgen Brønlund's, a Greenlandic explorer in Ilulissat city centre
weeweebear: World of Greenland building in Ilulissat
weeweebear: Poster of Ice Camp Eqi, the place we would go the next day and stay for 2 nights
weeweebear: Outside World Of Greenland... this is Ilulissat main road! Approaching hubby from behind is a man of Inuit origins.
weeweebear: At Ilulissat Harbour... Greenlanders like their things red! First, Air Greenland, the national flag carrier and now their boats. Nice! =)
weeweebear: The Royal Arctic Line supply ship, which is used to ferry all imports and exports in and out of Ilulissat, used to come 6 months once in the past due to the numerous icebergs around Ilulissat but now they sail monthly during the non-winter months.
weeweebear: Boarding our tiny whale-watching boat...
weeweebear: A really nice looking iceberg with a hole in the Disko Bay... however, the foreboding skies spelled "disappointment".
weeweebear: Close-up of iceberg with a hole in the middle in the Disko Bay... the dark stormy skies kind of complemented its look.
weeweebear: This iceberg in the Disko Bay reminds me of an island I saw in Matsushima Bay, Japan which is called Niōjima!
weeweebear: Waiting for the impossible to happen... for a whale to appear in this part of Disko Bay under such weather condition!
weeweebear: Making ourselves comfortable as it looked to be a long wait...
weeweebear: Finally!!! A whale had appeared! It was a humpback! *cheers around the boat* Ok it was the one and only whale we saw in this tour but we were happy.
weeweebear: Humpback whale about to dive!
weeweebear: Time to ready the camera for photos of the humpback's tail!
weeweebear: My so-so first attempt at taking the humpback whale's tail
weeweebear: Dorsal fin of the humpback whale... if you look close enough, you can even spot its long white pectoral fin!
weeweebear: There! We see a great improvement... A much much better photo of the tail of the humpback whale as it dived! =)
weeweebear: Humpback whale and icebergs
weeweebear: Bubbles caused by the humpback whale that was swimming underneath our boat!
weeweebear: Blowholes of the humpback whale was pretty visible as it surfaced
weeweebear: Humpback whale showing its tail as it dived
weeweebear: "All by myself in the morning, all by myself in the night..." (sing to the tune of "All By Myself" by Betty Boop) ...
weeweebear: Faint mist of expelled water as the humpback whale surfaced... you can see its blowholes and knobbly head pretty clearly...
weeweebear: Humpback whale showing its tail as it dived
weeweebear: Unique markings on the humpback's tail
weeweebear: Wavery edges of the humpback's tail
weeweebear: Hehehe this is what happens when a whale decides to rinse its mouth in the water! If only this is whale's vomit (ambergris)... do you know that is worth its weight in gold? =D
