weeweebear: Kangerlussuaq in early morning... My eyes looked red and watery cos they were sunburnt the day before! I didn't know that eyeballs could be sunburnt but now had first-hand experience!
weeweebear: Decisions, decisions... which way to go?
weeweebear: Kangerlussuaq at 6 plus in the morning... waiting for breakfast!
weeweebear: Breakfast at Hotel Kangerlussuaq... they must have pleaded with the chef to come back cos this bacon was the best I have eaten in Greenland (the food we had the day before in the same cafe was crap). Sinful but who cares when you are on a holiday. =D
weeweebear: Panoramic view of Kangerlussuaq overlooking the airport runway.
weeweebear: Checking in our luggage at the Kangerlussuaq Airport that is less than 10 steps away from our hotel.
weeweebear: About to board our Air Greenland plane to Ilulissat... such a nice cheery red! =)
weeweebear: Xiao Mao would soon be demonstrating "Safety On Board"...
weeweebear: "During take off and landing, always ensure that your seat belts are properly fastened."
weeweebear: First glimpse of Ilulissat Icefjord, Greenland at its mouth... as it was a little misty and the airplane's engines were in the way so this was the best aerial shot I could take of the icefjord. The photos of it could only get better... Promise!
weeweebear: Aerial view of Ilulissat and its icefjord in the far right.
weeweebear: The approximately 24-seater Air Greenland propeller plane which brought us from Kangerlussuaq to Ilulissat.
weeweebear: Ilulissat Airport
weeweebear: Even those who are eternally at rest have a scenic view of icebergs spread across the Disko Bay...
weeweebear: Icebergs in the Disko Bay
weeweebear: Our accommodation for the next 2 nights... Hotel Arctic is the world's most northerly 4-star hotel. It comes with a 6-star price and fortunately with a 6-star view! =)
weeweebear: The beautiful Hotel Arctic is almost entirely built with wood... really cosy and comfy and modern (all designer fitting!).
weeweebear: The hotel provided free transport from the airport and back... You cannot even begin to imagine how much the cab fare is in Ilulissat even though the entire length of road end-to-end in Ilulissat is less than 6 km!
weeweebear: Greenland husky pups... the one on the left looks like the little lamb from "Mary had a little lamb". =D
weeweebear: Dragging our luggage to our hotel room...
weeweebear: Even the route to our hotel room was just to beautiful to resist taking any photos.
weeweebear: Such a feast for the eyes... we enjoyed the long walk, dragging our luggage, to our hotel room =)
weeweebear: Ta-da! Something unexpected? Our igloo hotel room! There are only 5 such igloos here in Hotel Arctic. Perched high on the cliffs facing the Disko Bay, it's like having front row seats. We were truly lucky to book one for the night! =)
weeweebear: Opening the door to our Igloo No.4... one of the 2 igloos that are the closest to the cliff's edge.
weeweebear: A most unconventional hotel room... even though it is dome-shaped and tiny, they managed to fit in a bed, a mini kitchen, a dining/study table and a toilet.
weeweebear: Inside the igloo... irregular shaped furniture and blinds are specially made to cater to the dome shaped igloo. First time sleeping in a circular room... weird but cool!
weeweebear: The very mini toilet with heated shower and flush toilet... bathing in the igloo is only for the brave! We took up the challenge and suffered for it!
weeweebear: View of the Disko Bay outside of our igloo in Hotel Arctic
