Victor Mazzeo: Soon to be my Catskills mountain art studio?
Victor Mazzeo: It's done. After many months of searching, on Friday we finally bought a weekend house in the Catskill Mts. Lots of land, totally privacy, rock cliffs, a huge pond, and a 50 mile valley/mountain view. Next step is a 6 month renovation of the current home
Victor Mazzeo: Apparently some of the "locals" have an issue with our ownership claim on our new Catskill Mt house. This neighbor was sitting on the cliff watching us all day.
Victor Mazzeo: Theres something really spooky about old dirty dolls. So I wasn't thrilled to find this apparent setting for a horror film in the driveway of our new weekend house in the already creepy Catskill mountains.
Victor Mazzeo: Mornings happen earlier up here. Not sure how I feel about that.
Victor Mazzeo: Snoring Maya
Victor Mazzeo: Beware the Stinging Nettles. @sbeige found out the hard way. Looks like a simple weed with innocent hairy stems. But like a jellyfish, those hairs are needles and full of poison. A simple brush against them gave her welts and pain for hours.
Victor Mazzeo: These are the tasty young blueberries in our backyard upstate that against black bear is probably eating at this very point in time because our brand new @$*%&! Land Rover is busted and we are in NYC instead. #justsayin
Victor Mazzeo: New wings prep for a first flight. The third stage of its life is the best.
Victor Mazzeo: Construction Maya
Victor Mazzeo: Three different types of lichens in our backyard upstate. The round ones are either Pixie Cup or Trumpet lichens.
Victor Mazzeo: The ugliest and most depressing part of a full renovation/conversion, no matter how well planned or expected, is watching the demo of a perfectly fine house. We try to remind ourselves of the modernist home it will be transformed into. But it's not easy.
Victor Mazzeo: Beauty is all around us. This is a 5 inch section of a wood step in our backyard upstate.
Victor Mazzeo: Rhododendron shoots on the back deck of our Christmas rental house in Willow.
Victor Mazzeo: After a 6 month delay in construction (to source, design, fabricate, install steel), we are moving again! Over 50 pieces of steel columns and beams arrived Monday. About half of it was lifted temporarily into place by a 120 ft crane. It will be bolted, we
Victor Mazzeo: An angry sky over Woodstock.
Victor Mazzeo: The steel is rising. When complete, there will be over 60 steel beams in our #Catskill Mt house. See more at www.catskillconversion.com
Victor Mazzeo: Another angle looking down from the 2nd floor towards the rear of the great room. The view past the cantilever is a 50 mile southeast visa over the valley.
Victor Mazzeo: Stephy surveys the progress on our Catskill construction. After more delays things are moving again. Oh, and those two trees blocking the view? They have an appointment with me and Mr. Stihl.
Victor Mazzeo: The ponds first full freeze. For some reason this shot makes me want a martini. #catskills
Victor Mazzeo: I love all the rocks, boulders, ledges and cliffs on our #CatskillMountain property. Now if we could just finish the house...
Victor Mazzeo: Late afternoon in the #Catskills. Our pond is frozen with 6 inch deep ice and a layer of snow. The mouse, rabbit and deer tracks on top suggest the animals can do the math.
Victor Mazzeo: After many delays, false starts and misdirections, our modern glass house in the #Catskills is well under way (yet again). First floor complete! Follow along at www.CatskillConversion.com
