A bus from Arequipa to here takes a half-hour
Greg James Wade:
El Misti (The Gentleman). While climbing its face presents no technical difficulties it is considered strenuous because of the steep loose sand slopes and high altitude.
Greg James Wade:
Carrying tent, sleeping bag, food I jumped off a highway bus at 6:26am (3400m) and started walking in to make Base Camp by 12:46pm (4650m)
Greg James Wade:
For Cotopaxi's glacier (5897m) I hired a guide, but for El Misti it was a solo act, making it the highest altitude I have been by myself @ 5822 meters (19,101 feet)
