Remove pedals

Take 'em off and put them somewhere where they are sure to accompany the bike!

Remove seat post

Be sure to remember to mark seat post position with tape before removal

Lift seat post out

Snug up the seat post collar binder bolt so the collar doesn't fall off in transit

Loosen bolts holding stem to steerer tube

Remove stem cap bolt
ttcopley:
Remove top spacer
ttcopley:
Lift handlebar and stem off steerer tube

Put spacers and cap back on steerer tube for safe keeping

Place frame, fork, and stem/bars in box

Begin adding other things into the box
ttcopley:
Keep piling crap in
ttcopley:
Place the next layer of foam padding

Box with bike + crap loaded, ready for wheels.

Might as well keep your options open

With top foam layer inside top lid, close box

Do up side buckles on opposite corners first, taking care that the sides of the box fully close before tightening

Do up the other side buckles, cinching down tight
ttcopley:
Do up the remaining three large straps, again cinching down tight. Go around the box making sure all straps are good and tight.
