thecattylife: The Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II (or Altare Della Patria), just up Via Dei Fori Imperiali from the Colloseum. It was MASSIVE.... grandious beyond.
thecattylife: View of Piazza Venezia from the Altare Della Patria
thecattylife: and view towards the Colloseum also from the Altare Della Patria...
thecattylife: Parts of the Roman Forum
thecattylife: My FIRST gelato! One of manymany... and possibly the best. YUM.
thecattylife: No need for explanations. Colloseum.. it took my breath away...
thecattylife: tourist!
thecattylife: The amazing AMAZING colloseum - they've removed half the ground of the stadium so we can see below... remember where poor Russell was kept before he had to fight?!
thecattylife: Easily my favourite part of the trip.
thecattylife: Wandering through the Palatine, which are grounds where rich Romans used to live... saw this groovy vine creeping up an old building.
thecattylife: After the Palatine, wandered north through Foro Romano - the Roman Forum. The Arc of Titus.
thecattylife: More ruins, and seriously, impressive structures which are thousands of years old.
thecattylife: The Trevi Fountain... huge, very cool... but too many people and pesky dudes wanting to polaroid you and charge a mint.
thecattylife: And the Spanish Steps... even more people.. but we managed to sit for a few minutes here and chill out amongst the bustle...
thecattylife: and then DINNER! Penne arabiata, pizza diavola.. and a big salad @ Pizzeria Leonardo, next to the Spanish Steps - highly recommended!
thecattylife: Dessert #1 - vanilla & hazelnut gelato...
thecattylife: Dessert #2 - Tiramisu
thecattylife: Hotel Bernini
thecattylife: Looking for Catacombe di Domitilla, whose sign was a little too well hidden... we walked the wrong way for about 2kms... eeeks.
thecattylife: Strolling along. Check out the blue sky. Dont see that in London much :)
thecattylife: AH! Found it. It was pretty amazing.. dark, creepy, cold... but still, interesting...
thecattylife: The Pantheon! I loved it. Had to check out the oculus for myself...
thecattylife: Piazza Della Rotonda, we sat right outside the Pantheon for lunch... and got a tan in the process.
thecattylife: mmmmmm... Spaghetti Pescatori.
