Start of the Anarkali
tanglebox1:
Evening dress
tanglebox1:
Fabrics for the Anarkali. I can't decide if I just want to embroider some black velvet with some Mehndi designs or use the black n' gold brocade. Something to ponder...brocade is easier!
tanglebox1:
Testing a sleeve. This is going to present an issue because I want to make a very fitted sleeve. And you all know that's practically impossible with resin hands. Soooo, I think I'm going to split the sleeve for ease is use and it will fasten somehow.
tanglebox1:
Life has intruded into my fun. This is all I've been able to get done lately; cut out and fray checked.
tanglebox1:
Lining and bodice sewn to each other. Layers of the armhole basted in prep for the sleeve.

tanglebox1:
I was going to start the sleeves; I couldn't help myself, I just had to play with the braid! The crystals are just suiting there for now but I like it!!!
tanglebox1:
The lining is attached at the hem and slit. Turned and pressed.
tanglebox1:
Basting the lining and fashion fabric together. From now on, I'll be treating this as one piece of fabric. On to embellishing!
tanglebox1:
Added a little braid. More to come.
tanglebox1:
Well I'm back to sewing after the big move. But after installing the sleeves, there are several changes I need to make. The back needs another 1/4" for closure overlap.
tanglebox1:
The sleeves need to be shortened by 3/8".
tanglebox1:
The slit in the sleeve is too wide. Once its shortened, that will help, but the lining made everything thicker. Sigh; I guess I'll be starting over. Poo.
tanglebox1:
Two items of note: big decision on my part - no sleeves!!! Lol. After making the sleeves twice and not liking them I've decided this is supposed to be fun not torturous. Secondly, I changed the braid; I think this one stands out better.
tanglebox1:
First draft of the skirt pattern. It'll be a tad shorter in front than in the back.
tanglebox1:
The test of the skirt pattern is successful. This is only basted in place. Now I'll cut the the real fabric which is a lot prettier.
tanglebox1:
Skirt length is looking good as well.
tanglebox1:
Love the skirt fabric!
tanglebox1:
This was a test of an embroidery design that I'll use to embellish the skirt. I'll only need about a thousand of them! Lol
tanglebox1:
Working on the medallions.
tanglebox1:
Not committed yet, but this is one idea I'm tossing around. 2mm sequins
tanglebox1:
abit of lace
tanglebox1:
50-2mm sequins sewn on the medallion. Sigh, only 44 more to go.
tanglebox1:
Glued instead of sewn

Glued instead of sewn
tanglebox1:
Laid out to see how it looks! I'm liking it so far!
tanglebox1:
All the pieces made and laid in place. Next-sewing them all into the skirt.
tanglebox1:
The Dupatta (shawl or stole) getting its steamed in pleats. Really interesting, eh? LOL
