I made up a card of all the fabrics I think I'm using for this costume. Do you think I might have gone a little overboard on beads? Lol! $28.00 later...
tanglebox1:
First beading test; so far I like the pearl best (sorry they look just white). I think I need to downsize the beads from #11s to #15. I think I'll be happier then.
tanglebox1:
Ha! New beads arrived! These are Japanese rocailles #15s from Fire Mountain Gems. I really like the scale of this size bead.
tanglebox1:
We'll...I'll be making another bodice. My shoulder is too sharp. I want to cut the back down to mimic the same shape as the under-dress. It's a good thing I have lots of velvet! Lol!
tanglebox1:
Back to working on the renaissance dress! This fabric I'm making up for the over skirt. Lots of strips were cut, then each side serged and finally sewn together.
tanglebox1:
Got the bodice embroidered!
tanglebox1:
This is a test fitting of the pattern with discarded embroidered velvet. The fabric is thicker and since resin boobs don't squish, I gave it enough room underneath to gather it a bit. All the edges will be 1/4" smaller when lined.
tanglebox1:
Next step - application of the lining. I wish I had this in silk, but frankly, I really don't think it will matter.
tanglebox1:
Ready to sew in the bodice lining.
tanglebox1:
A quick view of Tessa on the sewing table.
tanglebox1:
I still have to bead the bodice and make the two piece gauntlets (sleeves) that tie to the dress. I think it's shaping up nicely!
tanglebox1:
Beading the bodice now; hopefully when I'm done, this will look like pearls. Lol.
tanglebox1:
I've finished beading the bodice and have hemmed the dress. Now I'm sewing about a thousand snaps for the back closure. Since there is an underdress, I thought it would make dressing the doll much easier if it snapped all the way up the back.
tanglebox1:
Well...this idea is going down the drain. Sigh. I had high hopes, but there isn't a simple way to take it on and off the doll. Back to the drawing board!
tanglebox1:
Here we go! LOL!
