su-lin: Hello, Cologne! You're very pretty.
su-lin: Breakfast at Cologne's Merzenich.
su-lin: #Nougatbretzel 😘
su-lin: At Deutsches Eck, the confluence of the Rivers Mosel (left) and Rhein (right). You can just about make out the different colours of the waters mixing in the middle!
su-lin: This is the Schängel Fountain. He is a very naughty boy.
su-lin: Waiting out the rain this morning. It's still raining.
su-lin: A glorious German cheesecake with cherries. While, y'know, waiting for the rain to stop again.
su-lin: We managed to dodge some of the rain and climb up the hill to visit Marksburg. This was the view down to the Rhein.
su-lin: It's chanterelle season! Here is last night's pork steaks with chanterelles in sauce with homemade spätzle. 😋
su-lin: This morning's breakfast spread, just for the two of us! Not pictured, boiled eggs and the massive basket of bread.
su-lin: Today's cake was an amazing four layer blueberry treat!
su-lin: I've discovered the Eiskaffee! It's like an affogato but with whipped cream!
su-lin: The rain hasn't stopped all day. We threw on rain ponchos and hiked up to Burg Rheinfels (well, its ruins) and then continued on to Loreleyblick.
su-lin: We encountered this little guy on our very wet hike today.
su-lin: This morning's view of the Rhein! And now it's even a bit sunny! ⛅
su-lin: A light lunch
su-lin: We went for a hike this afternoon from Bacharach, taking the RheinBurgenWeg to the ruins of Burg Fürstenberg. We had the ruins to ourselves!
su-lin: Bacharach this morning, as seen from the Postenturm.
su-lin: Goodbye, Bacharach! Victor Hugo wrote that this is one of the oldest and prettiest towns in the world. He wasn't wrong.
su-lin: Wiener-Apfelkuchen - Viennese apple cake, topped with caramelised almonds.
su-lin: The Mäuseturm and Burg Ehrenfels on the other side of the Rhein
su-lin: The casino in Wiesbaden, where it's said that Dostoyevsky gambled away a lot of his money... 💰
su-lin: The Kochbrunnen, from which flows the hot thermal waters of Wiesbaden!
su-lin: Today's picnic lunch of fish sandwiches and potato salad!
su-lin: This morning's last German breakfast in Rüdesheim am Rhein. I'm going to miss German breakfasts!
