somaliroy:
We went to New York in December 2015 and over a period of 10 days, I filled up 72 pages of my concertina travel journal. It begins with a portrait of the ecstatic travelers.
somaliroy:
Day 1 in NYC: The triumphal arch in Washington State Park. Excuse the wonky perspective, it was too cold to think straight!
somaliroy:
Day 2 in NYC - Fortitude, the marble lion guarding New York Public library; A vintage looking carousel in Bryant Park; St. Patrick's Catherdral
somaliroy:
Day 3 in NYC - Rain fell in sheets, so I sketched the Flatiron building standing under a tarpaulin by the road side
somaliroy:
Day 5 in NYC - Reimagined Central Park, where Bethesda Fountain and Bow Bridge are neighbours. Don't go looking for this!
somaliroy:
Day 6 in NYC - I drew one of the horses of the classic Jane's Carousel; had lunch at Brooklyn Public House; and couldn't get enough of the Brownstones
somaliroy:
Day 7 in NYC - I tasted my first Cannoli at Alleva, the oldest Italian cheese shop in the country; walked around St. Mark's Place in East Village
somaliroy:
Day 7 in NYC - Some of the signages that caught my eye at St. Mark's Place, selling diverse products and services
somaliroy:
Day 8 in NYC - Coffee at La Colombe; Sketching St. Paul's Chapel which was the spiritual support and volunteer center after the WTC destruction.
somaliroy:
Day 8 in NYC - We passed by Fulton Station, watched pigeons fighting over pretzels; smelled hotdogs from a food cart in front of NYSE and ignored the crowd around the Wall Street Bull.
somaliroy:
Day 8 in NYC - Watched The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center and adored this little piece of poetry framed inside the subway compartment.
somaliroy:
Day 8 in NYC - A random souvenir cart seen on our way to wonderful Greek dinner at Kefi
somaliroy:
Day 10 in NYC - exploring a small fraction of the treasures of The MET before hopping on the return flight.
