skatterbean:
The Philco Building
skatterbean:
The fire started between 12:30 and 1:00am
skatterbean:
Pretty soon the whole front was on fire
skatterbean:
You could hear it, it was that loud
skatterbean:
Once it started to go it went very quickly
skatterbean:
As it developed you could see more and more flames around the top and sides
skatterbean:
The roof of the building was gone
skatterbean:
The fire gets more intense as more firefighters show up
skatterbean:
You can see the lower levels beginning to burn
skatterbean:
I could feel the heat from it at this point
skatterbean:
The embers from the fire started little fires on buildings next to mine
skatterbean:
The lower row of windows is now completely on fire
skatterbean:
More and more embers and smoke
skatterbean:
Things kind of settled down as more cracking and popping came from inside
skatterbean:
It burned steadily for a while
skatterbean:
Big flames would leap out from time to time like this one
skatterbean:
Also from the front windows
skatterbean:
I hope no one was inside trying to get out of the cold
skatterbean:
The eastern wall fell around 1:50am
skatterbean:
With the fire now completely exposed to the wind it burned even faster
skatterbean:
And hotter and brighter
skatterbean:
It continues to burn now fully engulfed
skatterbean:
People waiting for news
skatterbean:
"This sucks"
skatterbean:
I tried to get a better view, but all the roads were blocked
skatterbean:
Displaced people
skatterbean:
Soaking the 100 block, the smoke was pretty thick
skatterbean:
Two officers head back toward the Gay St. Viaduct
skatterbean:
After the fire died down I was able to get closer
skatterbean:
The front wall of the building had fallen on one of the ladder trucks
