Sheriff of Nothing: Takes a few hours and several maps to do each drawer inside and out...
Sheriff of Nothing: Decoupage detail: I opted for tearing over cutting so this is, more properly, "déchirage". Cutting did not give a natural shape to the map pieces whereas tearing did. I didn't want the thing to look like the Middle East! #déchirage
Sheriff of Nothing: With the stripped draws back in.... Next job, decoupage the drawers with the remaining maps before 4 coats of clear lacquer.
Sheriff of Nothing: An afternoon with maps and glue...
Sheriff of Nothing: This is SO going to work!
Sheriff of Nothing: Mod podge and 1960s French road maps.... Will need some more variety but can't wait to get started.... Will have to! Off to explore Sicily and Mt. Etna tomorrow! #wardrobetrunk #Sicily
Sheriff of Nothing: As suspected, relining parts of the wardrobe trunk is hardest. I'm NOT making a decent fist of it either..... Might have to rethink. Impossible to match fabric, don't want to reline the entire thing. Not looking good.
Sheriff of Nothing: One side left and then we start on the interior.... #wardrobetrunk
Sheriff of Nothing: This is really starting to look the part...
Sheriff of Nothing: Excised a large section of perished lining and removed debris. Thinking of replacing ONLY the rear and bottom planes with replacement fabric and cleaning the remainder.
Sheriff of Nothing: New handles fitted to the wardrobe trunk, exterior view. #wardrobetrunk #renovation
Sheriff of Nothing: Back to the wardrobe trunk and I've punched out the handle pins, slipped in the new leather handles and added the bolts. Ground off the excess....
