Alfred Fartknocker: 3 Sqn's T-Bird sits outside its HAS at sunny Gutersloh. XW933/ AQ was sadly w/o over Osnabruck a few years later in a mid-air with an F-104G (26+70). The Harrier stude and the 104 pilot ejected safely, but not the instructor in the T.4.
Alfred Fartknocker: The Flugausstellung P. Junior at Hermeskeil, near Trier Germany keep this ex RAFG Lightning F.2A outside, but in great condition. XN782/ H is in 92 Sqn marks and was previously a decoy at RAF Wildenrath.

Alfred Fartknocker: Sukhoi Su-22M4, 798 is outside at Gatow, near Berlin. 25+44 is also allocated, but only its former LSK serial is worn.

Alfred Fartknocker: Stored propless on the gliding strip at Vennebeck, W. Germany in 1980 is D-EHIT, an ex Luftwaffe Focke-Wulf P.149D, ex 91+75. It's still around as of 2021.

Alfred Fartknocker: A busy scene as RAF C-130K XV297 is turned round at Gutersloh in 1980. As well as the Squadrons based here, there was also a passenger terminal, of sorts.
Alfred Fartknocker: 4 Sqn Harrier GR.3 outside a HAS in 4 Sqn's area at Gutersloh. CM is XZ131. The nose survives at Spark Bridge, but looking great in service here as an engineer gets down off it and surrounded by ground equipment.

Alfred Fartknocker: I always though 'SD' stood for 'Surface Decoy', but it's actually for 'Special Display'. These Lightnings would be trundled around between attacks, and tyres etc' were maintained for this purpose. XM180, an F.1A was scrapped at Gut' c. 1980.
Alfred Fartknocker: This elegant Lockheed Super Constellation is preserved at Hermeskeil in Germany. D-ALIN is displayed in the colours of Lufthansa, for who it flew until 1967- it's an L1049G.
Alfred Fartknocker: 4 Sqn jet at Gutersloh. My landie parked behind it. It's XW765/ D and was written off less than a year later, in March 1980 when it hit a Buzzard at low level over Wales. The pilot ejected safely..

Alfred Fartknocker: One of a pair of UH-1H 'Hueys' at Gutersloh. The crew have kicked the doors open as they wait for that huge rotor to stop. It takes a few minutes. it's either 66-16405 or 68-15307.
