Alfred Fartknocker: The crew get the covers off this Polish AF two-seater MiG-29, 15 red before it flies at Leuchars in 2009. It's a MiG-29UB, 'FULCRUM-B' to NATO.
Alfred Fartknocker: RAF Leuchars is shut these days, but back in the day it was a great place. LTF Lightning T.5 XS419/ DW was one of seven that stopped in today. This one was scrapped at Rossington in 1993, sadly.
Alfred Fartknocker: This Lightning F.3 used to be kept at Leuchars by 111 Sqn. It's since moved to Bruntingthorpe.
Alfred Fartknocker: The 48 TFW (Tactical Fighter Wing) at Lakenheath sent this F-15E Eagle (or Mud Hen) up to Leuchars for the show in 2003. 97-0221 "LN" is clearly with the 492 FS (Fighter Squadron).
Alfred Fartknocker: This Typhoon T.3 is ZJ809/ EY of 6 Sgn. It's over the beach at Leuchars. Amazingly it was scrapped at Coningsby by April 2018.
Alfred Fartknocker: The Austrian AF sent this specially painted metallic red SAAB Draken to Leuchars in 2003. Here it is taxiing back in after sadly going tech before its display. 08 is c/n 35335, a J-35OE- it survives in the museum at Zeltweg. What a looker!
Alfred Fartknocker: The Norwegian Historic Flight were operating this Canadian built Shooting Star at Leuchars in 2012. 599 is ex RCAF 21599 (or 133599), a CT-133AN. It is N865SA here, before becoming LN-DPS in 2014.
Alfred Fartknocker: RAF Tornado GR.4 ZA614/ EB-Z appeared at Leuchars in 2012. It's with 41 Sqn here, but it was saved and ended up on the gate at RAF Marham- after a spell with the Firemen there....
Alfred Fartknocker: This Harrier GR.7 is ZD409/ 38 and has an AGM-65 Maverick under the wing. This was at the 2008 BoB Airshow at Leuchars. ZD409 was sold to the USA in 2011.
Alfred Fartknocker: Seen in typical Leuchars weather, is Luftwaffe Tornado IDS 45+64. I believe it is still flying as of 2023?
Alfred Fartknocker: There's usually a B-52 at Leuchars. This is 61-0032 "BD" an AFRES B-52H in 2008. It's been a GB-52H trainer at Minot AFB since 2012, so not often reported since then.

Alfred Fartknocker: Skyraider G-RADR used to fly in this great looking scheme before it was repainted in plainer, but more authentic o/a blue. Bu. Aer 126922 started as a US Navy AD-4N, that's a three seater night attack version, aka A-1D. Seen landing at Leuchars.
Alfred Fartknocker: Another jet that's left the UK is this very early NA F-86A Sabre. 48-178 flies on in the USA as N48178, but here it is tearing about noisily at Leuchars, while still reg'd G-SABR.
Alfred Fartknocker: The Sun goes down on Lightning F.3 XR713 in 111 Sqns area at Leuchars. The base was closed, 111 disbanded & the Lightning went off to Bruntingthorpe.

Alfred Fartknocker: Nice looking Typhoon T.3 ZK381/ EX of 6 Sqn taxies out at RAF Leuchars. It's with the TMU at Coningsby these days just coded 381.
Alfred Fartknocker: A Norwegian AF Falcon 20ECM visits Leuchars in 2011. #053 was one of two 'sneaky-beaky' Falcons, operated by 717 Sqn. They were both retired in 2022.
Alfred Fartknocker: I always liked the look of the Tucano- strange to think they are already retired. Here's ZF171 painted up like a Spitfire at Leuchars in 2010. This one was in Germany by 2022- hopefully to fly on in these non-German markings.
Alfred Fartknocker: The Germans sent this fancy looking Tornado ECR from TLG-51 in this 'Sharks Skull' themed paint job, to Leuchars back in 2003. 46+49 is one of the later Tornadoes, and is still in use.
Alfred Fartknocker: The Gazelle was around for ages, and in service with RN, RAF & AAC. XZ324 has a Scottish badge, so with 3(V) Sqn up North? This AAC AH.1 was sold off & l/n at Stapleford in 2012. Seen here at the 2004 BoB airshow at Leuchars.
Alfred Fartknocker: This Swiss AF F/A-18C Hornet taxies in after its display at Leuchars. J-5021 flies on as of 2021, although a replacement is coming.
Alfred Fartknocker: 6 Sqn put up a mighty nine-ship of Typhoon FGR.4s at Leuchars.

Alfred Fartknocker: This Royal Navy Sea Harrier F/A. 2 is one of a pair in the static at Leuchars. ZH813/ 006N was the last one made. Last noted with SAH, Culdrose in 2015- but may well survive somewhere?
Alfred Fartknocker: There was usually a B-52 at Leuchars in September. This one is 60-0045, a B-52H from the 93 BS at Barksdale, Louisiana.
Alfred Fartknocker: This Hunter T.7 is XL573 seen in the Static at Leuchars in 2004, but it was actually sold off in 1993. It flies as a civvy here, G-BVGH- although not so much since Shoreham. It may be at St.Athan?
