Salesforce.: Supported by the Salesforce.com Foundation, a team of 20 salesforce.com employees organized a carnival for the children at Family House in San Francisco.
Salesforce.: Family House is a home away from home for families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The house provides physical comfort and emotional support, without the burden of financial concerns.
Salesforce.: The salesforce volunteers entertained the kids with face painting, bean bag toss, inflatable basketball hoop and tasty treats.
Salesforce.: Family House can accommodate up to 107 people per night and it serves over 2,000 families per year.
Salesforce.: Six children from four families participated in the carnival.
Salesforce.: Victoria from Salesforce met 15-year-old Raul. Raul is diagnosed with leukemia and has lived in the Family House for two years. "We talked about music and the things he does to pass the time -- he is an amazing person with so much courage," said Victoria.
Salesforce.: "These kids are going through something very tough. They are an amazing example of resilience and hope. If we could take their minds away from all that for even a while, it's definitely more than worth it. Thank you for making this possible."
Salesforce.: Family House welcomes new volunteers and donations. You can find their home goods donation wish list here: http://familyhouseinc.org/?p=wishlist
Salesforce.: The volunteers packed toiletry kits to give to families who don’t anticipate a long stay in San Francisco.
Salesforce.: The rainbow piñata was a huge hit among the kids -- some needed a little assistance to reach the donkey :)
Salesforce.: It's Raul's turn! "When the piñata actually broke, you can see in his eyes, even through his face mask, that he was smiling with so much joy." Greg Mora, Director of Volunteer Programs at Family House.
Salesforce.: The Salesforce Foundation has been involved with the Family House since 2009. Since 2011, every salesforce.com new hire class volunteers there. Salesforce donates 1% of its product, 1% of its time and 1% of its equity to charitable organizations.
