Michael Spady: 1925 Jordan Spreader. The V-shaped plow on the nose lowers down between the rails. Wings, here, folded alongside, could clear snow, etc. from the tracks and also scrape away brush & weeds as well as gouge ditches & spread ballast.

Michael Spady: D-8 Cat with a ripping type blade, designed to uproot brush without making a huge pile of earth in front of the Cat. It is towing a device which does more of the same.
Michael Spady: A ripping trailer towed behind a big Cat. The points are secured off the ground by steel pins. With pins knocked loose, they will slide down and dig into the ground to pull up roots and brush. The wheels are solid steel, about 6" thick.
Michael Spady: Cable spools on the rear of this large Cat, probably a D-7 or 8, enable it to perform the job of the donkey. It also allows the use of a log skidder by threading the cable thru the eye at the top of the skidder.

Michael Spady: Case 'donkey' with start crank. A donkey drags logs by reeling in cable which passes thru a block on a spar pole or a yarder pole. Older donkeys had steam power, newer ones, diesel.
Michael Spady: Almost in the center of this picture is a two cylinder gasoline motor, along side the massive diesel engine of this Caterpillar. This "pony engine" is the starter motor for the big diesel. It is identified by its carbeurator.
