pagan mama: Female cassowary -- great tail!
pagan mama: Peccary on the lawn outside our cabin
pagan mama: There were probably a dozen coatis eating palm nuts in this tree
pagan mama: Coatis on the ground. Think cross between housecat, raccoon, and anteater.
pagan mama: There were scarlet macaws all over, but generally moving too fast to photograph. Gorgeous birds, noisy as all get out.
pagan mama: A coati regards me suspiciously.
pagan mama: A small armadillo snuffling around near the swimming pool.
pagan mama: Bananas -- look down for the strange-looking flower.
pagan mama: This is a sloth. No wonder they're so hard to spot.
pagan mama: The tiger heron. Its neck/throat is much thicker than herons I see around here, because it is capable of swallowing small alligators.
pagan mama: A scarlet-backed tanager.
pagan mama: Many varieties of parrots.
pagan mama: A squirrel monkey. We didn't see them near the lodge, as they're apparently driven away by the more aggressive capuchin monkeys.
pagan mama: Bob in his native habitat.
pagan mama: Capuchin monkey peering through the brush.
pagan mama: Capuchin monkey
pagan mama: A troop of capuchins playing on the suspension bridge between our cabin and the main lodge.
pagan mama: Our cabin. Basically an open sleeping platform with mosquito nets around the bed. There are canvas sides that can be rolled down in case of rain.
pagan mama: Our cabin from the front.
pagan mama: Agoutis were everywhere. I got a kick out of their ears that shone red in the sun.
pagan mama: Miguel took me on a horseback ride through the forest to the beach. Note that he is barefoot. Lobo, his puppy, followed us all the way.
pagan mama: Miguel and my horse. I got a saddle. Miguel didn't.
pagan mama: The view from our bed.
pagan mama: Beautiful bug.
pagan mama: This is not a man running through the trees. I'm not sure if it's a capuchin or a howler monkey.
pagan mama: Toucan!
