A new channel of the Skykomish River crosses the old Index-Galena Road. We observed pick salmon crossing the road here, though the water was only about 3-inches deep.

The November 2006 floods destroyed bridges and many yards of the road, but also moved tons of small rocks to cover the old roadbed. What force. What sound it must have made...
