mjhibbett: It's lovely to wake up to this beautiful view, in Puerto de la Cruz.
mjhibbett: We loved Apartamentos Casablanca. It has a bowling green!
mjhibbett: Shy lizard
mjhibbett: Giant 'sugar snap peas' hanging from tree
mjhibbett: This must be the most photographed doggie in Puerto de la Cruz!
mjhibbett: On our way to Mount Teide, our guide Pedro told us the 'Mexican hat' meant it was probably too windy for the cable car to run, ruling out our hike to the summit. :-(
mjhibbett: The Teide volcanic crater. It's 17km wide. It's amazing!
mjhibbett: An odd, intriguing landscape
mjhibbett: Recreating the picture we'd seen on loads of postcards. Why not?!
mjhibbett: Mount Teide. We hoped to get to the top later in the week. (We didn't - oh well, we'll just have to come again!)
mjhibbett: 'El Tarta' - the layers in this massive rock show the geological history of the land.
mjhibbett: As we couldn't get up Mount Teide, Pedro took us to La Laguna - sooo beautiful.
mjhibbett: Pedro explained the landscape is so varied ('the little continent') as Tenerife was three islands before the Teide volcano came up out of the sea and joined them together.
mjhibbett: When we came to Puerto de la Cruz last year we only saw Mount Teide from the bus on the way back to the airport. I wondered... if I walk to the other end of the balcony, and look back, is it THERE...?
mjhibbett: Flipping 'eck - it is!! Pico del Teide! Made my day!
mjhibbett: Fish in the harbour at Los Gigantes
mjhibbett: The cliffs are up to 800 metres high. That's over three times as high as Canary Wharf Tower - can that be right?!
mjhibbett: The black sand is mud pie-smooth and looks almost good enough to eat!
mjhibbett: La Gomera (another of the Canary Islands) seen from the boat from Masca Bay back to Los Gigantes.
mjhibbett: Something tells me he doesn't want to leave! (Me neither.) We'll be back!
