mjhibbett: We liked Lille's mix of well-preserved old streets...
mjhibbett: ...and quirky new buildings...
mjhibbett: ...like the L-shaped building aka the Pinball Machine!
mjhibbett: We saw this strips-of-metal effect used in a few places in the city, including railings outside a station. Très interesting!
mjhibbett: There are still lots of cobbled streets in Lille. Whether cyclists prefer them to tarmac, I'm not sure, but they sure look – and sound – much nicer.

mjhibbett: 'Au Pigeon Voyageur' statue at the citadel.
mjhibbett: Nice to see the humble pigeon getting some credit for a change.
mjhibbett: Are these Canada geese or ducks disguised as Canada geese?
mjhibbett: They are quite shy, anyway!
mjhibbett: Little white duck...
mjhibbett: ...glowing in the sun.
mjhibbett: At the citadel. Does this look like a real, serious, military sign to you?
mjhibbett: We think it looks like something cobbled together for a low-budget TV show!
mjhibbett: From Leeds to the Boulevard de Leeds – I've come a long way, baby. (They are twin towns.)
