Maggie Allan:
Mosedale - it was here that I asked a local gentleman about the direct route up Carrock Fell from Mosedale.
Maggie Allan:
Bowscale from the initially steep climb - a good path though
Maggie Allan:
"Turn left at the broken wall/bield"
Maggie Allan:
A more substantial bield higher up
Maggie Allan:
Looking up the Caldew valley from the cairn at the top of the steep section
Maggie Allan:
Carrock Fell summit now visible
Maggie Allan:
A path leads through the heather past another old fold against a rock
Maggie Allan:
Skiddaw from a cluster of rocks
Maggie Allan:
The path emerges between the two summits at this old ruin
Maggie Allan:
Here I am again - third time in two weeks! Different routes though
Maggie Allan:
On Round Knott on the way to Brandy Gill
Maggie Allan:
Waterfall and an old level in Brandy Gill
Maggie Allan:
The level didn't seem to go in very far
Maggie Allan:
The fabulous waterfall in Brandy Gill
Maggie Allan:
I dropped down for a closer look - about 20ft high I estimate
Maggie Allan:
Looking back
Maggie Allan:
Not always easy walking down here
Maggie Allan:
Plenty of interest though
Maggie Allan:
Lunch time above Carrock Mine
Maggie Allan:
River Caldew where I usually park
Maggie Allan:
But I had to walk a couple of miles back down the road - there are worse roads to walk down!
Maggie Allan:
Back at the hamlet of Mosedale
Maggie Allan:
The twins :-)
