Shortly After the Astro Van passed, the astros were being helped into Shuttle Atlantis by the closeout crew. This process takes about an hour.

We were parked right next to the media, lots of trucks and media tents everywhere. Pretty neat, but we had to stay out of their way!

Chris Meinert #4 on the closeout crew talked with us soon after he was one of the last people to see the STS-132 crew. An amazing guy, and he shared a few tears with us about the Columbia Crew from the 2003 disaster. Really puts some heart behind why the

And about 1 second after T-0 count. We are two miles away, and there was NO SOUND at this point.

And here she goes...awesome! The crackling sound of 5 million lbs of thrust. You could feel it in your stomach and on your skin. And this is the point where the thrust really turns to speed!

And the sound continues...and it gets going faster and faster...at this point, I stop taking photos...and just watch in amazement.

A few minutes in, and she is well on her way. I quickly run inside to watch the Solid Rocket Boosters breakaway.
