jeanacosta: The Fairview Hotel
jeanacosta: Beyond excited! Visiting David Sheldrick in Nairobi, an organization we support that hand-rears orphaned baby elephants for re-integration in the wild. 1 of our 2 fostered elephants currently lives there.
jeanacosta: We brought a box of supplies for them, and therefore were able to enter the visiting area before the large crowd. We enjoyed watching them set up the (huge) bottles for the babies.
jeanacosta: Our first glance of the babies coming in from a walk in the bush to the visiting area.
jeanacosta: The babies being fed their milk
jeanacosta: One of our fostered elephants, Naipoki, who loved having her little trunk around people
jeanacosta: Naipoki with a friend
jeanacosta: The elephants playing with one another
jeanacosta: The "older" ones could feed themselves - impressive!
jeanacosta: Enjoying the mudbaths
jeanacosta: Went back for a 2nd visit later in the day, which is reserved just for the Foster Parents. Here they are coming in from a walk to their night feeding and bed time.
jeanacosta: Naipoki in her stockade
jeanacosta: Like a true child, she needed her sleep after the feeding and immediately laid down for bedtime. I mean, does it get any sweeter?
jeanacosta: Visiting the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi, a non-profit org that was created to save the last of the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. Guests can get up close and feed them in their own environment.
jeanacosta: Giraffe Centre

jeanacosta: Visiting a local African Dance Theatre

jeanacosta: Lots of school children were on field trips to the dance center as well
jeanacosta: Completed our weekend in Nairobi, and now it was time to travel down to Tanzania...via bus!
jeanacosta: Being adventurous and taking the bus from Kenya to Tanzania
jeanacosta: Was about a 4 hour trip, with 1 hour spent at the border
jeanacosta: Crossing the border to Tanzania! Here we would have to get a Visa for entry as well.
jeanacosta: Arrived safely to Arusha and checked in to the Ilboru Safari Lodge, where we'd spend 1 night before leaving for safari the next morning
