bubbaisme:
fan upgraded to 14" from 9" The car would heat up in stop and go traffic with the 9" puller fan mounted behind radiator. 14" is loud but very effective blowing lots of air though the radiator.
bubbaisme:
Coolant fill is now at the highest point in the system. The cap is a 32LB cap that I never want to blow off. There is a 18LB cap at the radiator that I want to blow off if there is a problem.
bubbaisme:
much easier to fill the system now than trying to make water flow uphill from the radiator fill. Inline fill is from Jegs, 1 1/4" on thermo side and 1 1/2" on long hose side. No need to use bleed screw in thermo housing any more since the fill is higher.
bubbaisme:
old and new fan-twice the CFM and almost 3 times the surface area gets air flow. Drove all this summer and had no problems if I managed the fan manually in stop and go traffic. Air Temps are in the mid 90's all summer in SW Florida.
bubbaisme:
expansion tank 1 quart. The little vent hole in the top was drilled out to accept a brass fitting and overflow line that dumps under car now.
bubbaisme:
coolent plumbing. 1 1/4" aluminum tubing and flex pipe. After 18 months the flex pipe has been great w/no problems. All hose connects are double clamped.
bubbaisme:
aluminum coolent pipe. The pipe now has 2 standoff brackets holding it in position. Brackets are bolted to exhaust manifold studs.
bubbaisme:
coolent lower hose - Bottom Radiator end. Goes under steering rack but could just as well gone over.
bubbaisme:
coolent lower hose- the whole run. This flexible tubing has worked great and is easy to fit and form.
bubbaisme:
coolent hose upper-Has all the correct bends. Hose is a Dayco. Advanced Auto part#E71854. Since modified with fill port near thermostat housing.
bubbaisme:
coolent hose adapters - flex stainless steel and connecter and adapter for 1 1/4 outlet
bubbaisme:
coolent hose upper -strange hose Brunton (Glen) told me about-Should work great-need a 2 ' aluminum tube to finish upper. Headers B4 paint.
bubbaisme:
coolent lower hose-new to me hose-pretty slick if it holds up over time. 18 months and no problems
bubbaisme:
sending unit for H20 temp.- had to drill and tap into intake manifold,no other tapped holes on engine for it
bubbaisme:
The pucker factor was high while drilling a 5/16" hole into the water jacket for the temp. gauge sender. In hindsight this hole would have been easier if drilled next to the ECM temp. sender B4 the engine went in.
bubbaisme:
radiator and fan in-wired and works. Radiator sits on a rubber pad in the bottom mount.
bubbaisme:
radiator fan mount has rubber hose vibration dampners and is mounted about 1/4" clear of radiator. This is the new 14" Spal fan.
bubbaisme:
water temp gauge. Red light for when fan is on. Switch below light is manual fan switch. Also have 180* auto switch in radiator if I forget to manually turn fan on.
