When the ruts of the Paddle Hill Creek 4WD track got too deep, we parked up as the other vehicle was starting to bottom out.

Lovely lovely trail…The low terrace in the centre was the only climb facing us today. All 10 minutes of it!

Riding a heavy 20yr old steel bike with panniers containing essentials like red wine, bogs were a headache for Lois
JETNZ:
Back at bog stop, we saw a black dot and dust behind and thinking it was a 4WD, I hurried on to secure 3 bunks

It was half an hour before the others turned up so I wandered around enjoying the last sunlight

The "grot". Not the worst I've seen but could do with a new seat… (cracked and covered in bird droppings)

Inside the hut. Firewood was scarce… and required some foraging. Mart won the prize for collecting the most wood

DAY 2: Frosty start. While the others were reluctant to leave their warm sleeping bags, I was treated to this!
