Nickel plating worked like a charm. Here's the test piece of nickel plated brass mesh next to the sheet it was cut from. Nickel wire that was used as the anode next to the plated piece.

Attempting to make some nickel acetate solution to nickel plate brass today. So far so good.

Put together a Hall Effect sensor magnetic pole sniffer to find the north and south poles on some magnets I'm using for ribbon mics.
